GNX5?

I've been drooling over the GNX4 for years. Now that I've waited so long ... I almost have enough cash... is there a new one coming anytime soon? GNX5 maybe?

  • Bummer. Is anyone doing anything like it?

I'd like something to help my practicing, writing, playing with friends, etc. The feature set is pretty good on that box. I guess I could just get it, but it seems that there should be something better after 5 years. Any suggestions?
  • Nothing else really like it in recent years, that I know of. You may consider the POD X3 Live pedal - it can handle two instrument inputs (with different signal paths) and an XLR input as well. It does not have a drum machine or a looper or recorder, but it does have a CD-in jam-along thingy. Its USB connection is very flexible. I can't say anything about the tones and effects (haven't heard it in person yet), but I would imagine that it's not terrible.

Nothing else is quite like the GNX4 in regards to its available hardware options, but even other products have retained long shelf life, as well as their store price ie POD XTL (still $399), Rocktron rack products have been around a while like the Voodu Valve, Prophesy. Some of which came out well before the GNX3 or GNX4 units. Then there are those looking for legacy products like the RP7, GSP Artist rack units.

Its one of those things. If the demand for a 16 track type workstation with firewire etc was there, they'd build it. Given todays hardware, they could even add an Ipod Dock, but a hardwired audio jack works too.

As for the all around practice tool workstation, hard to say what they'll introduce, but for now GNX4 has that covered.
