Meeting celebrities
Please help me try to understand why I spend every waking moment, practicing the music of the bands and musicians who inspire me, while my wife gets the opportunities to meet them in person, and doesn't even know who they are!
So, yesterday, my wife has a business meeting in Chicago O'hare for the day. She calls me before getting on her flight home, and says: \"You'll never guess who I saw and met at lunch, today.\"
I'm thinking; old high school friend, long lost relative, etc.
\"No clue. Who did you meet at lunch, today?\"
\"CARLOS SANTANA!\"
He was waiting in between flights, and he said Hi to her as he sat at the next table from my wife and her business associates, as they were eating lunch in the airport concourse. She didn't know it was him, until someone told her \"Do you know who that is? That's Carlos Santana, the famous guitar player!\"
She figured that I'd know him, because I'm a guitar player, too!
She didn't want to be rude and interrupt his lunch, and ask for his autograph (for me).
Of course I forgive her, but it's difficult...
She could've asked for a guitar pick, a used fork or napkin, SOMETHING...

First off - I'm a huge NHL fan, and when I lived in Denver, my sister was good friends with Joe Sakic's wife. (for you non-hockey fans, he's one of the all-time greats).
I have an official issue Sakic jersey from the year they won the Stanley Cup, and Sakic was the Conn Smythe winner (playoff MVP).
And she wouldn't/couldn't bring herself to ask her to have her husband sign my jersey (even though he's probably signed thousands in his career).
Talk about hard to forgive!!!
Anyway. I work in a field that encompasses a huge mass of the rich, famous, and celebrated. You can't imagine who was at my bosses' New Years' Eve party, or who I live next door to. Sheesh.
The funny thing is, is that celebrities tend to mirror the general population, despite that fact that they have 1000 times as much money, are 100 times more attractive...anyway, the point is that some of them are utterly wonderful, some are indifferent to the attention, and some are downright obnoxious. I could tell you stories...
Anyway. Forgive your wife. AFTER she cooks your favorite meal and \"tucks you in\".
Got to throw Eric Carmens nephew out of my bar once!
That's funny! Was she the first one? Did it need adjusting? Or just for her?
LOL.....
That guy was really big, And I look at her and say yeah, Steven Segal is a really large guy. The look on her face was worth a million photos as she is such a Segal fan and didn't recognize him.
I live in Nashville and you can run into anyone, anytime.
heres a couple.....
Driving down the road behind this \"road bogart\" going 30 in a 40 and not speeding up anytime soon. I finally pass him and gave him the finger(a tennesseans first word :P ) and lo and behold it was Allan Jackson

my fave: i got to a pawn shop wearing a \"Hendrix\" shirt.I'm looking at musical stuff and tools and settled on getting a roland D-10 keyboard.I go to the guy at the counter to buy it when his friend sitting in the chair gets up and asks me if i was wearing the \"Hendrix\" shirt as a fashion statement or if I really liked Jimis playing.I said \"anyone that doesn't appreciate Hendrixes accomplishments in music,.....needs their head examined\" The guy then says that he played with Jimi and i was like \"Yeah right!!\" untill he laughed and introduced himself as Billy Cox *thud!*
i could go on

Most famous guy I played with was Clark Terry at a Jazz Festival in Chorpus. I was playing for the college stage band, and had a solo as well..
Don't remember much about it now, except I kept praying..
\"Oh lord..Don't let me screw up..\"..LOL..
When I was in High School I played guitar in a band. My friends father was hosting a no nuke rally. We got to get on stage and play with Jackson Browne.
