A little help...

Hey guys I was hoping to get some options on an issue I have...
I was asked if I could dj a sweet 16 party for one of my neices but I have never used my PA anywhere other than for practice in my garage. Here is the PA package I purchased:

How big of a place do you think I can handle with a system like this? It will be indoors like in a small ballroom but I'm not sure how many people will be there? Do you think I'll need more sound? Thanks guys any feedback is greatly appreciated.

  • I seem to think this should be just fine for that sort of venue. I've done plenty of gigs over the years with just a pair of 300w EV's and a Peavey XR680 head and it was more than enough for the night. Depends on the frequencies you like using too because bodies can sure soak up volume. I go with this philosophy - I don't try and overpower a whole room at parties, at least let people up the back hear each other talk and if they want to hear the music louder they can come down the front and dance
If you think however its going to be a thumping big party then you'll need something meatier than this with a sub. But there's nothing worse than having shelled out the bucks for a bigger PA thats more work to set up only to find you didn't need it after all. Can you test your current PA at the venue?? You'll soon tell what you need.
