Pulled the trigger on my first JACKSON Soloist!!
Just arranged the purchase of my first Jackson Soloist, and actually my first USA made guitar! I can hardly believe that after 21 years of playing, this is my first American guitar?!
I started out when I was 12 on a EVH copy made by HONDO
Then had an Ibanez Roadstar II which I still play and enjoy very much, it's a nice neck. Also an Ovation celebrity acoustic, which I stil enjoy. I've had a Japanese Strat, and played for an EXTENDED period of time an American Strat, which was a fellow teachers. I've had other guitars, nothing special to mention. I had thought I would get a Strat one day.,
Well, Strats just weren't appealing to me. And neither was anything from Gibson, except for an Explorer! Which will probably be my next guitar (late next year, unless I build one this summer with one of my students, even so, I'll probably look for the real thing next).
The other guitar I was thinking about but hadn't got to try yet was an UNK guitar, made by master luthier to the master EVH himself! He's nearby in Jersy, and I'm supposed to meet with him soon anyway. So one of his is probably in the works somehow as well! Gotta make it happen somehow!
Anyway, the Soloist looks like a dream guitar for me. I arranged this through a reputable dealer, but I have yet to play the guitar in person. It's a Custom Shop, totally beautiful burnt cherry flametop, gorgeous finish. I fell in love with it instantly. I am so amped about it, just wanted to share the good news!!!
Anybody else with one let me hear some reviews!

3rd knob is EMG afterburner, push/pull knob of +20dB variable gain
Nice white binding around the headstock too.
:P
I've had 4 jacksons and have repaired several USA models and they can be some awesome guitars 8)
Congrats on your first handmade...welcome to the club! 8)
I used to have a Soloist and I sold it a few years back. It was an amber colour and it had the real striking flame maple timber through it - just beautiful. BUT..... this particular guitar suffered from a lot of neck flex and tuning problems, some nights on an open air stage it was nearly unplayable it would move so much. I tried everything to get it rectified but I had to let it go - real shame cause I loved the sound and feel of it.
I don't mean this to sound like a downer for you though Olah - just giving my experience I guess. Having said that, 3 buddies of mine have them and they are perfect so obviously I got a lemon!! But its probably this experience with a Jackson that steered me onto my ESP's which I just love 8)
