deal of the year (for me)

Last week I was at my local guitar shop and noticed a used Fender Champ 25se 1x12 sitting there. I tried it out and it sounded good so I checked it out a little further.
I looked at the back and noticed tubes (solid state preamp, tube power amp) so how much was it? $150.00

Hell yeah! so I put cash on it then and there......

Then I checked it out online to see what exactly it was worth. Ebay = Buy it now price $389 for one, and $359 for another!! SCORE!!

So the plan. I'm taking my old Fender Dynatouch 1x12 and selling it as well as the Champ 25se - then I'll have enough $ to put down on something better

'till then - I'll have 2 1x12 amps to run stereo from my GNX3K

here is the \"new\" amp:

  • Man that is sweet! Good for you 8) Maybee after running that setup for a while you won't want to sell? What would you upgrade to? Anyhow congrats on that! Should be an awsome little amp for you! What for Power Tubes are in it?
  • OMG! :D That is the amp I have been using for a long time. I think I bought mine back in the early mid90's, for $299.00 (us) I have replaced the tubes once,(two 6L6, finals, 12AX7 drive the finals) and now I am contemplating changing the master volume pot, it's starting to get noisy.

That little champ has been a good, solid amplifier for me.

I use the GNX-3 with this amp. I run the mono out from the GNX-3 to the power amp in. Also, at church I plug a direct box to the line out jack on the back of the amp.

PM me when you decide to sell the amp.

    Good luck,
    peace

that's exactly why I bought it! then I saw the price difference  I still don't understand why people would be willing to pay more than it was originally sold for now.........maybe it's the fact that it has a tube power amp, and tubes are \"all the rage\" lately.

    What would you upgrade to?

I'm not exactly sure yet (I can never make up my mind), but I'm thinking of a few things....

    Bugera 333 head

    or the Peavey 5150 head

Basically I just want something (head or maybe a combo) that I can plug directly into for my distortion channel.
  • Your so lucky dude. You have bought an awesome amp like that in great price. It is much better if you upgrade it more so that some of the range will be more likely to hear.
  • Did the shop screw up? or are they actually an honest place to do business?

A little of both I think. One of the guys that worked there said it was just hanging out in the basement and never got messed with - then he tried it out, realized it should have been on the floor a long time ago and put it out for $150. It couldn't have only been on the floor for more than a couple days before I snagged it up.
