Here is how to easily download and save YouTube.com videos
I don't know about you, but lately I have been finding some good stuff on YouTube.com. I am surprised to find someone has already posted a guitar instruction on how to play a song I'm working on, and being a visual learner, I think seeing the video speeds up the process for me. Now I have found an easy way to download and save those YouTube.com videos to my computer. It a FREE video converter program which you can find at http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/. I have already downloaded a dozen or so guitar instruction videos and converted them to mpg files which I have saved on my laptop for viewing without the need for internet.
If you ever wanted to download YouTube.com videos, this is the easiest (and FREE) program I have found. Hope someone else can make use of it.

Would anybody know if this can be used to download the lesson videos that are on gibson.com (Arlen Roth's lessons videos, for example)? A buddy of mine and I have been trying without success.
With all the content on YouTube.com, I would have thought a few other people might take advantage of this program. But I guess I like to download and save content because I don't always have access to the internet and sometimes the content on the internet just goes away. Also, I needed to download the content to put in projects I am working on for school.
My next investment is an Ebow, from watching Phil Keaggy and Don DiPaolo's YouTube videos... almost hypnotic, but awesome!
Is there a way to save only audio from YouTube videos?
Some I'd like to turn into MP3's, and put on the CF card for the GNX4...
I have been checking out some utube awhile back. And all of a sudden my virus/spyware been detecting and deleting some bs. So can they be checked first before being DL'd? Same goes with/for all the \" free ware \" out there I don't trust it. There have been a few things I went out on a limb for, but for the most part still feel uncomfortable downloading stuff from the net. Rawb <
Pussy!
Yes, this program will let you download the YouTube.com video and covert it to a wav file. You can either load the wav file on the CF card as a SONG in the OBR, or you could convert the wav file to an mp3 file. Either way, you could strip the audio out of the video if that is all you wanted.
I know how you feel. I have a laptop computer dedicated to the GNX4 just for recording. It doesn't do anything else. No internet...no viruses.
On my computers that I do use the internet and download programs and files, I always have antivirus software running. I have used both Anitvir and AVG Free, both are free programs. I'm old school too. I won't let anyone else use my computers for internet surfing. My nephews and nieces always have their computers slowed down to a crawl with bad viruses. I do have one computer at my house where anyone can surf the net, and if it dies from an infection, I'll just wipe the HDD and reinstall the OS from scratch. But they won't use my computers.
As for YouTube.com, I've never had a virus attack from them. Since video files are not .exe files, I don't know if you can even get a virus from them. But I understand your concerns. If you get over your fear, I have found lots of really good stuff (music and other) on YouTube.com. It has given me a jump start on new songs I am trying to learn. At any rate, if you are running either of the two free anti-virus programs I talked about, they will continuously scan your computer and downloaded files for any viruses. Life is a risk, I minimize my potential loss by keeping my recording hardware (computer) totally off the internet.
I know once you get burned from a virus on the internet, it can really turn you off to exploring other possibilities. If you can afford it, just get an old junky computer for the internet and downloading files. You can check the files on that old machine before you transfer the program to your main computer. Around here, we have to pay to discard our old computers, so lots of people have old computers sitting in closets, garages, or basements because it's cheaper than paying to have them thrown out. So I bought a nice wireless hub and my oldest computer is the one for anyone to use on the internet. Still works great for that.
