First: spend $50-100,000 on gear.
Next, hire a full-time sound tech who is exclusively dedicated to shaping your sound to your most infinitesimal preference.
Then, prepare yourself to fight off groupie wannabe's in order to preserve rehearsal time.
Either that, or learn to use your GNX. You oughtta be able to get a reasonable facsimile of the sound you're after. Mike's SuperModels are also a great solution.
PS: if you FedEx me one of those irresistible Italian beauties, I'll fly over there and set up your GNX for you, to sound like whatever the h+ll you want!!! (Brunette/darkish, no more than 5'9\" (175cm), lean figure, natural beauty). You've probably got those by the dozen at the local coffee shop, right?!?
PPS: Excellent English, dude.
whatever...I lay no claims to obtaining the same sound...just wanted to know what does the NIN guitarist's use on the stage...because each guitarist has got his own instrumentation...so he must have his own too
Anyway thanks for your so funny (and true) reply and for your suggestion about the GNX...
PS...take a look at your mail...(Fedex)...haha
thanxxx
Anyway...the NIN guy - and just about every other rock-star type - usually have unbelievably elaborate custom-built pedal boards, often using either custom or obscure boxes and processors. So the odds of getting a genuine \"copy\" of someone's sound is pretty unlikely. That's why they're rock stars and we have jobs. :?
And don't forget every link in the chain affects the final sound; every guitar sounds different, pickups, even cables. I urge you not to be a tone snob or a perfectionist. (except when you're picking out my hott Italian sweetie 8) )
The best you can do is learn your GNX as well as possible; after owning mine for a few years, I've found that it's ability to fine-tune different sounds is amazing. And as I said, if you're new at it - or just lazy - the SuperModels are pretty great. I've used a few and they're very well done.
I searched around a bit and only came up with this
that is a couple of NIN dudes (sound guys?) messing with the gear.. can only see what they use, but it's interesting to know that even NIN uses digital guitar gear.
this is one of the pedals in the video that you can't really see:
this is a little bit from an interview about the \"with teeth\" album where he wants to record guitar parts
So, Line6 for NIN?
here is a pic of some gear:
here is a pic of the guitar pedal board and a suggestion (from another site) as to how to set up:
lespaul, jazzmaster, tele, strat > pedalboard > marshall superbass100 > greenback 4x12 & orange V30 4x12....
On the Downward Spiral they were heavily processed in software...

here is a quote from Aaron North, NIN live guitarist:
A little scatter brained, but you get the point. Live is a different story from what's in the studio. Live I think Trent uses a Line6 Vetta head and in the studio they use their rig through a bunch of software (Native Instruments).
Not exactly how to set up your GNX, but maybe a start?
Maks, as Phatsack has shown, with the pics (nice pics btw) you have alot of shopping to do! Or someone else is going to stop by with the settings info you seek. Or you can just get the super models disc. Here is the web site for it http://www.mfxsupermodels.com/ Go check it out! think you like
Another way to get this is route guitar to KB that has a saw synth active preset. That's how we do \"closer\" and other NIN stuff if requested.
It must be the \"Butt Probe\" that gets that tone...
They uasually get some kind of tone from everyone!
