Expression Pedal Question

This is my first post here so hi everybody.

I have a RP200 that has worked flawlessly for about 7 years. It has been a rock and I love it. Suddenly the expression/volume pedal stopped working correctly. It acts as if it is at “zero” no matter what the position. The only thing that occurred before this happened was that it was transported from one place to another, no bumps. I know it is long out of warranty, again a testament to its longevity, so I popped it open to look around.

So, here is my question. On the pedal part there is a post with an indention that looks like something was once there. Was something there like a magnet that may have been dislodged? If so, can it be obtained or can the sheet magnets from the hobby store be used?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I am saving my pennies for a RP250. I am just looking for a band-aid until I have enough.

But, FWIW...it sounds like you found the problem. Natch, the first thing to do is rattle the thing to see if there's some loose part floating around inside, since that's probably gonna be whatever fell off the E/P.
Beyond that, you're gonna need one of them there smart guyz that hang here who've been inside that thing to clue you in.
I'm just waiting for Shania to show up. 8)

Do you have that phrase on speed dial or something?
  • Thanks Shredd,

Yeah, I looked for a missing piece except not right away. I may have lost it when I first opened it up or at the audition where it first failed (ouch). Does anyone know if the sensor for the pedal is magnetic or optical?

    Thanks again for any help

No...just a tragic life circumstance. If I lived in MD, or some other place chock-full of promiscuous women easily impressed by medium-level git'rists, then I wouldn't have this problem...
