  • The link doesn't work. But it sounds like a great deal anyway. Unless it has a cracked neck, like the bass I just picked up...
  • Now it works, but you have to log into myspace. Anyhow, all seems good, no neck issues, etc. I just have a real hard time setting up those locking trems. I may take it to my setup guy. Let him do it.
  • Nope. Still doesn't work, even when logged into m/s. But it sounds like a great deal!

    Ditto!

Not everyone has a myspace account, How do they long in?
Maybe liliace fixed it so pics can only be uploaded in the new picture section :P

Now if I can only find a mint 335 for $100
  • Well, sorry. I don't belong to any other picture hosting sites.

Well, sorry. I don't belong to any other picture hosting sites.
I also belong to very few online sites; they usually end up being more hassle than they're worth, especially when you get more than you asked for  .
Photobucket is nice. Free, no spam (\"newsletters\", \"advertising partners, etc... ) and you can link right to your images. So we could see your tasty little bargain strat. :D

BTW: the message I get after logging into m/s and trying to veiw your pic: \"Invalid Album ID for this user\"
  • Shredd,

You can log onto my space. Go to my page: www.myspace.com/rwi. Click on my pics, and its the last \"album.\"

OK - got it - finally!!! For youse other guys...'floods link has a period in it that misdirects. Go here: www.myspace.com/rwi

Meanwhile - Holy Cats. What a STEAL. Nice ax. I don't suppose they were selling any early 80's Gibby 355's, were they??? :?

PS: this chick: http://www.myspace.com/amanda_poth is in your \"friends\" list; I clicked her profile 'cuz of her impressive chest. But once you read her profile, it's enough to make you slit your wrists. If this is the kinda chix Texas is full of, I'm staying away. Even if people do sell strats for $100. This is one scary broad.
  • No, there weren't selling any Gibby's. They did have a MIM Fender J-Bass for $100 as well. That's actually what I was looking at first. then I opened a case they had with a $120 price tag on it, and here was this strat. So, the wife wanted some plastic crates that guy had to hold books. I asked the guy how much for the strat and the crates. He said for $100 I could get the strat, and he'd throw in the crate for free.

And Mandi is much less scary in person.
  • What a steal. You got as lucky as a guy can get...any moron woulda just walked up and bought it for $120 without even knowing a thing about it, just 'cuz it's a fender. You scored big time. How come you didn't buy the bass too?!?

PS I'm glad to hear your m/s friend isn't the freak she wants anyone who reads her page to think she is. I was gonna put Texas on my list of states to never set foot in....
  • I thought about buying the bass, but I just wanted to keep some cash. I already have an MIM J-Bass, so I would have just been buying it to turn over for profit ---- Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  • thats one HECK of a deal!

i took in a 97 gibbo SG on a partial trade for a custom job I'm doing and oddly enough .........I like it  with some new hardware and white paint and who knows.....i might hold on to it :o
  • Yeah, I'm still liking it. I needed a couple screws to get the old Kahler Spider up to playable specs, but the parts are already here. I'm going to add a tremol-no while I'm at it, and then it should see some playing time. The pickups sound very good and all the electronics check out pretty well. it might need a shot of contact spray. The electronics on this thing are real weird, though. There are some little tiny caps like I've never seen in Fender, and the pots seem to be a smaller diameter than typical. But my reasearch indicates this is from the period right after Fender got out from under CBS. This particular model was made in both the US and Japan, with the same serial numbering scheme, although the Japanese ones are maked \"Made in Japan\", and nothing on mine would lead me to believe thsi is Japanese, but the electronics might be. Oh, yeah, my neck is signed by \"Jesus\" so I'm pretty sure I got a US version. Also, it has the Fender US neck plate and came in a Fender USA case, not that that means anything.
  • Hm. If I had a git'r made by Jesus, would I sound better???
  • 'm actually surprised it doesn't turn to flames in my hands. Tremol-no came today. Installed and intonated the little beast. Seems nice. I run through an amp tomorrow and decide if its going to the blues jam this week.

No, but the pick might keep falling through the hole in your palm.
