Free Shipping on Heavy Items at MF for limited time

If you are like me, you wait until free shipping on heavy items is offered by the website companies before you order your cabs/guitar amps/etc.... MF has free shipping on their heavy items for a limited time. I am looking at a pair of Yamaha S115V's which normally cost $660 for a pair plus $70 shipping, so I at least I got the cost of shipping covered. Anybody want to chip in and help me with the cost of the speakers? Best wishes.

  • Sorry, but I did get the free shipping on the Behringer BG412S that arrived last week. I'm now saving for a BBE482i and a better power amp. I will probably look for a Peavey 50/50 on ebay.

I was looking at some stuff on eBay the other day. When you factored in the $$$ they wanted for shipping, it was about the same price as buying new gear from the online music websites that offer free shipping. I have heard some people getting good deals on eBay, it just hasn't been me for what I was looking for at the time.

For example, the Yamaha S115Vs I am looking for are available used from someone on eBay. He is starting the bid (with shipping) at only $60 less than a new pair would cost from MF. To me, that's not much of a deal. At least with a purchase of new speakers you get the Yamaha 3 year warranty and if the speakers are damaged in shipping, the good music websites will ship you out a new box at no extra cost.

My brohter-in-law has bought some good stuff off eBay, but I haven't been lucky. Also, he devotes the time it takes to get the good deals. I don't have the time for that. Take care.
  • Youse guyz nailed it...ebay isn't always much of a bargain, especially when you consider that with ebay sellers you rarely get a warranty or any kind of return policy. I've seen mixers in the box for $269 plus shipping on ebay, when they were at MF, new, warranteed, shipped free, and with return policy for $249.
That said, I've scored some killer gear and great deals on ebay.
So, as always, the key is to shop around.

Unless you're me, of course, in which case you'll jump at the first breathing human with the right body parts who shows even the most miniscule interest...
  • I would really only go for something from ebay if it was really the right price. If I could find a peavey 50/50 for $250 I would probably go for it, otherwise I will just save the $500 for a Carvin TS100, which about the only tube stereo power amp right now that is even remotely reasonably priced. - I swear, I think most tube amp manufacuters really just gouge customers because it is such a niche market- Who else can sell 60 year old technology (with minor upgrades) over and over again and still get top dollar for it?
