Looking for THIS sound...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=FUmRmDldi5E

Hi everyone. New here. I just bought an RP70. Neat little tool for a great price. I've already gotten a ton of cool sounds from it, including almost turning my Les Paul into a twangin' clean Tele, but I am trying to find the right configuration to get pretty close to this \"surfer\" sound I posted in the link.

The user on the YouTube vid. says he uses a Fender Bassman, Roland Space Echo, and an Ibanez TS-9. I tried messing with the TS-9 simulator on my RP70, but it just seems to add \"mud\" more than anything else and I actually get closer with the amp/cab packages.

However, I can't quite find that Pulp Fiction sort of surfer bite.

Granted, I don't have a Gretcsh hollowbody; I have a Les Paul. But judging from the sound, I don't think it's as much the guitar as it is the effects. If anyone knows a certain \"formula\" on the RP-70 that would bring me pretty close to that clunky sort of slap the guy gets (esp. on the lows) I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks
Tom

  • You might want to try using a tweed amp model, and set the highs UP on the EQ of the preset. Use a delay time around 70-80ms and some reverb. Also, might want to use the HB>SC on the pickup/wah setting.
  • Thanks for the input. Funny, because I just found the sound the other night, and a lot of what you said here is what I did. Changed the HB-SC, a delay that was almost an instant \"tap-tap\", about 4 clicks on the twin reverb effect, and the '57 Tweed Deluxe mock with gain up a few notches. Took the mids and highs up on the eq, used the bridge pickup, and added just one notch of tremolo for a pinch of that \"in-out\" effect. Came out very close.

These are great, versatile pedals for a good price. Can't wait to check out some of the 1/2/350's in the future.
