My New and only Album - Government Cheese

Check out what I've been doing over the last year since I came into the Digitech forum. I started recording last December 12/15/06 until now.

All the songs need vocals except \"Pickup the Pieces.\"

I did the guitars, bass and drums on all of the tracks from the URL/link below. The drums I used were EZDrummer and a few Beta Monkey Drum loop packages. I used a GNX3 for all guitar and bass work. I understand my recordings don't sound that good but I'm learning and realize I will be re-recording all the stuff again in a really good studio as soon as I find a Kick A** vocalist that would be interested in jammin on these songs.

Anyway here's the link:

Have a great day and leave me some feedback.

Thanks,
Brian

  • Great stuff man!!! I hope my stuff will sound that good one day...
  • Hey Brian. Finally got a chance to listen to those tunes. 8) I remember quite a few of those. Some seem like they may of been changed a little? BUT non the less firmiliar to what you had posted before. I like what you have done with these tunes! Everything sounds real good Brian! Proffesional sounding already without recording again etc.. I like your style Brian! It realy takes me back I can hear so much inspiration from the 80's in your Riffs & Licks & such. Verry much you though I think you have made all this sound like Brian Artea don't get me wrong. Favorites Jimmi, Still, Yesterdays Tomorrow! That was an Interesting take on In The Flesh by Floyd!! 8) Anyhow all great stuff Brian! Thanks for sharing! Hope all is well! I know things will go well in the future for you! You have an obvious Tallent! 8)
  • Thanks for the feedback. I have a vocalist all lined up to do the songs so they will now have vocals within a few months. They sound kind of not finished without vocals.

I saw that this page had 58 hits and only 2 feedbacks were left. Do I suck that bad or is it people just didn't have a chance to listen to a whole album?

Myself I think they're pretty good, maybe it's jealousy that people aren't leaving feedback...I don't know.

Partch thank you for your feedback and I forgot what the other guys username was that left good feedback but thank you too!!!!

Yeah, that's it. Just jealous.
In fact, lots of us listened to - and surely plenty liked - your postings. I guess not everybody felt inclined to post replies and feedback to stroke your ego, and instead just enjoyed the tune/s.
For what it's worth, some of us think that you play music for yourself and hope others enjoy it, rather than playing your music for others.

Hey Shredd for what it is worth, some also play for an Audience of one & don't care so much if others like it or not  I hope I can get good that others some day will dig my stuff BUT even if they don't?? I'm presing on buddy

I'm with you. If I played for the benefit of others, it'd be a futile pursuit. But my audience of one - me - thinks I'm amazing.
  • As for playing for myself and not for others that were mentioned above in a couple reply posts I don't understand? I just like to play and whatever comes out will come out.

    I just love to jam.
  • I don't find time to listen to everything everyone posts. Don't get me wrong, I love listening to new music, but the only times I leave feedback are when people ask for specific comments: how does this-and-that sound, how did this solo come out, what can I do about the bass in the mix, and other things of that nature.

I know what it's like to spend close to a year recording an album and only get a few hits on the page, but at the same time, I understand completely. Most days I don't get home until late at night, I'm regularly unavailable on weekends, and I don't like working while listening to music (the work is too distracting). I'm sure other people have work habits similar to mine or lives just as, if not more, hectic.
  • Thank you all for the feedback and it all makes sense. It's a job to listen all the way through someone's album especially if it's not that good. Also thank you for the answers.

    Peace
  • Nice job on the album. Keep at it and you'll have two albums. Nice sounds. :D John

For what its worth I think your stuff has great room for melody and i like it... but you know that, we have talked and cyber jammed before...you should'nt let feedback or lack there of \"get to you\" or start interpeting it as negative. I have posted quite a few times and have had stuff like get very few responces while others got more. I have a few web pages up here or there and rusults greatly vary....alot of us may be busy and just listen...I know I have responded to many post but latley I am rehersing more and have less time to reply or record for that matter ...I hope no one takes that as a negative just a simply fact...some months we have more time to respond than others.
    keep jammin peaceout!
  • Hey Brian. Government Cheese sounds real good.

Feedback Question: On songs \"Ripped\" and \"In the Flesh\" the only thing I hear coming out of the left speaker is a cymbol. Drum&Bass center, Rythm Guitar on right only. Is that the way you intended it to be? In my opinion they sound great but could sound better if you evened out the stereo spectrum a little more with the rythm guitar.

Your stuff sounds great. Keep it up.
  • I listened to the the cd and found that I had listened to them and posted comments when you had originally posted the single tunes here in the forum. It's cool that you have all of that for a cd, but thats why I did not reply in the begining, but did now.
Best of luck, and keep jamin\"
  • I listened to a few songs and you obviously play well. Your artwork is very nice... Kind of military...but in a 'cheesy' way (get it?). I have to admit the cuss word song titles made me chuckle a little...in an adolescent sort of way  .

Two suggestions I might give are 1.) lower the frequency of the bass track on some of the songs. It sounds a little 'muddy' in spots. Maybe do a 'High Pass' EQ and 2.) the drums sound a little 'cheesy'...(I will stop now). Really though, they sound a little 'tinny'. If you are not going to use real drums, maybe add some reverb to those drums to give them a little more 'umph'. Or find a drummer and record some real drum tacks.

    Good luck to you.
