That you like !!

There are many really long songs, but I dont much appreciate them.

Top on my list of likeable long songs :

Most of the long songs I like are by RUSH, and they're sort of multi-sectioned. 2112, Fountain of Lamneth, Cygnus & Hemispheeres, etc. I also like Do You Feel Like We Do...but overall, I don't care for eternal \"jams\"...the Grateful Dead is one of those bands that can take an amazing peice of songwriting and drill it into the ground by playing it for 30 minutes. Better living through chemicals, right??? :roll:

it was so long that your 8 track tape player had to fade out change tracks and finsh the rest on track 4! long enough to finish at least 2 smokes!

:? but alas I dont know if it qualifies at 15 but its over 11 minutes of... Take it easy da da da da da :!:

8 TRACK player???....what is this ancient device you speak of, (oh ye great and wise aged one)

And I HATE the Grateful Dead for the most part, but Dark Star is a brilliant piece of music, and really has a feel unlike anything else they've done

I submit Lou Reed's \"Metal Machine Music\"....4 entire album sides for the same song....completey unlistenable noise mind you, but very LONG

Tarkus by ELP. This one was appeared on three channels of the 8-Track tape. I can still hear the fade downs, click, fade ups, even when I listen to it on CD.

That's more along the lines of my idea of a long song. I'd say Dream Theater's aCoS as well, that's about 23 minutes long. Then again, a lot of songs like ones from PF's Animals, even 10 minutes seems like a bit much.

I don't know why I never mentioned it, but Mike Oldfeild's longer peices are pretty far out, if you like that stuff. He's one of those British genius multi-instrumentalists who plays 35 instruments and produces his own albums. I particularly like \"Taurus II\", which is on \"Five Miles Out\", and album with a killer title track...(yes, this is the same guy who wrote the musicc for \"The Exorcist\"...

to the guys that mentioned symphony X,Rush,Yes,Pink floyd,and Jethrotull.........DAMMITALL you beat me to it!!!!! :P

With Tulls \"Thick as a brick\" there is also \"A Passion Play\" 8) Martin Barre is a majorly underrated player :roll:

Emerson Lake and Palmer(or Powell) had some long tunes too

anything progressive just makes me work better 8)
