Where We Start (David Gilmour)

This is a beautiful song by David Gilmour from his \"On an Island\" CD.


I have wanted to cover this song for a while now and sent a PM to my buddy asking him for his help. Within a matter of weeks he sent me a backing track that just blew me away.

My mate did all rhythm guitars, acoustic guitars and lead guitars after the main solo in the middle + the BT of course & he handled the mix and production .
I handled the Vocal duties and the lead guitars out to the middle solo. I used my lovely Pod X3 to do the Vocals and Guitars, it has brought new life to my recordings. Though I still very much dig my Digitech RP250.

    STELLAR effort!!! The backing track is terrific, the git'r sound is also great, and the vocal is realllly good, a fitting tribute to Gilmour. Good mix, all the sounds are there, really well done.
    Only IMHO: less \"sliding\" on vocals, nail those notes n hold 'em, like davey does...
    I also really liked all the K/B parts.

    Hey Mark long time no post. Hope all is well with you! Very pretty song!! You always nail the Floyd/Gilmour stuff!! Great Tone 8) I don't know the original song BUT some of the Vocals sound Flat to me? You always do a great Job IMOP on vocals though!! Great post!! Keep em comming Mark! 8) :D

    I agree with shredd, great effort.

    The tones the mix and vox are very good 8)

    And Partch is correct, you are the Gilmour around here

    Not hugely into Floyd but its a cool tune.

    I would love to hear a recording of the RP250 and your X3 together.

    BUT some of the Vocals sound Flat to me? - Yeah I agree, I would love to go back and resing this in future, there are area's of this song that I struggled with.
