Hey guys this is my second complete song. I need a help with the mix. I was listening to a lot of the songs on this board and they blew me away. What can I do to my mix to make it sound better? Let me know what you think.

Here's my $0.02:
Vocals are good but muddied - I think they need a bit less reverb and to be \"tightened\" a bit - meaning roll off the bass a tiny bit and mix them in so they're not overwhelmed by the git'r part.
The bass was REALly good, but needs reinforcement in the mix; it got a little \"lost\", meaning buried under the rest of the mix, especially the git'r/s.
And the drums could stand a little treble rolloff and to come forward in the mix just a TINY bit.
Otherwise - great shredding and a killer tune.

PS remember to post some idea of the meaning of the lyrics, for all us Spanish-challenged...it always helps give meaning to the song... 8)

Shredd, as always, great feedback. I love it when people are honest. I plan on recording the vocals over to get a better sound. I'll try out your suggestions and post the results. Thanks again!

¡N¢ogN¡+o. Dude, that's some good playing! A few things to consider when mixing: Every instrument needs to have its “space” in the frequency band. Say the guitar and bass are real strong around 300 hz. They will compete against each other in the mix. By using parametric EQs, you can shape the frequency space for each instrument, giving them their own unique space. This will give each instrument clarity when mixed together. Mild panning can also give some separation to individual instruments.

That makes perfect sense Gregory. I'll have to mess around with the parametric EQ to try and get a better mix. It's really tough to get it to sound good! Props to all you guys that can do this. Thanks for the feedback and for the pointers.

Pretty cool song man!! 8) It's a shame I can't understand what your saying!! You sound like a decent singer!! You seem to write well in English! Do you speak or sing in English? It would be interesting to hear you do a song & sing in English!! 8)

Thanks partch! I appreciate the feedback man. I keep forgeting that most of the people on the forum can't understand my lyrics. Well basically the song is titled New Love and that is what the song is about. It's about the new type of love one feels when falling in love for the first time. When we are in high school we might \"fall in love\" and get heartbroken and all this drama. As we mature we grow emotionally and realize that high school love sometimes isn't real love. The song is about that enlightment where one realizes that hey this is a new type of love that is pure and real. The chorus translated goes like this:

In every dream that I have
I assure that you are there
In every thought that's in my mind
I can only think of you

Every instant of my being
I need you hear with me
I'd give everything I have
Just to have you here with me

I do speak English but I haven't written much in English though. I just feel that Spanish can express emotions more clearly. I do have one song in English that I want to record but I just haven't quite got the music down. And now I have to try to get these recordings to sound better. I give props to those who can mix. It's definitely something that I need to learn more about. But partch, thanks again man. You got any stuff posted/recorded? Post the link if you do.

Yeah I've posted quite a few things over the last couple of years. Some Original some my take on songs we play at Church during Worship Service. I play Electric Guitar on our Church worship Team. Anyhow the Last Tune I Posted was called God's Grace I think it's on the Top Page of Music section still?? Some of the things i've posted will be further down page 2,3,4 etc.. not exactly sure how far down they will be?? Check it out though It has deffinetly been a growing process for me!! I have only been home recording 2 years? & playing guitar seriously 4 years. Anyhow I'll be at now until my time is up on this Earth!! Maybee even be decent at it someday?? that's cool though I would deffinetly be interested in hearing your song if you record it in English!! As it is I dig your stuff in Spanish!! Don't get me wrong. Anyhow the explanation & chorus helps!! Have to give it a listen tonight at home again 8) as well as some new tunes that have been posted since I last listened. 8)
