  • Not too bad... a few parts are slightly behind the backing track, and I think your delay is a bit out of time. Definitely a good attempt, I'd bet you could pull it off nearly perfectly in a week or two.

The guitar tone is sweet too, very reminiscent of Petrucci.
  • I have to agree with Iliace on this one. The delay time thing needs tweeking. I have really respected the honest feedback from my forumites on this board. You will nail this in a week or two.

You are definitely talented. I cannot attempt stuff by players like Petrucci. I am just having fun recording over the backing tracks I have. I would kill for talent like yours and others on this forum...some well talented players here.

Keep it coming man...sounding good :P
  • Thanx iliace that is a good advise,i've allways wanted to make the delay time better but i allways forget as it needs calculation with tempo of the song or maybe the amount of notes i don't know how,if u have any information about this plz post it here..

    Macman,thanx alot u r the best..\\m/

I think this song is a good exersise for the right hand and for picking the hell out of strings..it still need some training on the timing thing, thats what i hate about dream theater, maybe i did it alone with backing track but noo way of making it with a whole band..drums,keybord and bass..thats too hard

    cya guyz,keep on rockin
  • I really enjoyed this very much, very good attempt and very good playing.
  • 8) Nice workout for your right hand on this one wish I had that much control (or talent) in mine.
  • Nice job DMS 8)
Every time I feel like playing some Petrucci, I lay down, until the feeling subsides  Na, I think it's great to stretch yourself - it's the only way you get better - you went for it on this one, and I applaud you 8) 8)
  • NO DOUBT
iAGREE W/IO ON THIS ---GOOD JOB MAN
i'VE NEVER LISTENED TO PETRUCCI B4 CAN YOU RECOMEND A CD?
  • Great job!

    Dream Theater... hmmm

    my fav's are:

    Images and Words

    Metropolis/Scenes from a Memory

    Octavarium

    Six Deg of Inner Turb

    Falling into Infinity

    Train of Thought

    Awake

    Change of Seasons

in that order...... or you can get the DVD's if you really want to get spooked!! Watch him play melodic lines with grace and then flare up to 230 bpm right hand riffs!! makes you do that \"Im not worthy\" routine..

    images and words

    Metropolis Scenes from new York

    Live at Budokan

John Petrucci's Rock Discipline DVD is another must have.. one of the best rock guitar inst vids ever made.
  • thanx I will ck those out!!!
  • WOW!!!!

    Great Pickn'..
    Great mix...
You nailed the whole thing dude...

    See Ya,
    Tal... 8)
  • Hey there DMS.

Man, that was good. I'm a huge fan of JP (my sign off signature is from the intro of scenes) but I haven't got round to buying that live album yet. After hearing your take on this piece, I think I will go out and grab it.

My fave Dream Theater would have to be Scenes From A Memory. I find this album haunting and thought provoking. A monumental work of art. But all their material is high quality. It's very hard to pick a fave.

    Anyways...
    Thanks, that was great.

  • Thanx guyz,,\\m/
i think Petrucci is the best in R.hand techn. and tremolo picking.
    guitar3456 i love all those albums..they rock

An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudes is one of my favorites
Live at Budokan is a work of magic not just music,i think everyone should have this concert,no matter u play guitar, keyboard, drums,or bass, really they've pushed it to the limit..if u wanna watch it.just put ur instrument away so u don't break it :(
Also check out the old Live in Japan for Dream Theater.

    thanx again guyz,peace
  • Awake is definitely my DT favorite.

Petrucci has a solo album out, too... and he was featured on a bunch of tracks for the Guitar Battle CD.

    Look for discography on www.johnpetrucci.com
  • well I just bought IMAGES AND WORDS and I gotta say I am very impressed---g3456 was saying that they all have PHD'S IN THIER OWN MUSIC FIELDS. Thats amazing to me . I opened up one of the songs on guitar pro and I had to laugh cause I\"ve never seen that many time changes in a metal song---pretty cool and they sound awesome
  • does anyone have the patch for this? i'd like to try it out for myself.

    thanks! :)
