Noodling -- rough cut--

Here is the link to an idea that's been floating around my hollow head for a little while.

I used the GNX3000 for the drum machine, TWINCHRS and BLUESOLO presets on a Carvin Bolt Kit for the electric parts.

The acoustic guitar part was done by my old (v1.0 software) GSP-21 into the GNX3000 and bypassing all of the GNX's effects. The GSP was only running compression and reverb with a Dean Exotica.

It's a rough draft and my 1st contribution.. enjoy!

  • Good stuff! It's a really nice melody, and your use of the various technologies is pretty impressive. That's gonna be a great song!
  • Thanks TONS MAN.. I figured I'd get murdered for bringing in \"old\" tech and posting an incomplete song.

  • Dood...if it sounds good, we don't care if you recorded it on a Victrola. 8) Keep posting!
  • Like the melody man, very catchy 8)
  • Thanks.. I hope it doesn't get stuck in your head like it has been stuck in mine for a while now.

I'll be able to finish it up as soon as Musician's Friend gets my bass (Dean EXO..blem so it was cheap) to me. I'll be re-recording all of the guitar tracks due to mistakes that I hear.... some people may not hear them but I seem to. By the way, will plugging the bass into the GNX hurt anything?

Is it just me or does it sound like my guitar made a \"door bell\" tone at 1:17 into the song? I swear I got up and checked the door 2 or 3 times before I realized it was in the mix.

OK, I've rattled on enough, I promise not to post when I'm buzzing anymore.
  • My volume was up full blast and the song is weak. Try adding some compressor to it, and that should help bring up the volume. This is a good start for a nice song. Work out the lead guitar part and pan the parts out individually for a more balanced sound. Great effort so far.
  • Nice rough cut man!! I dig the backing Rythem!! Sounds real good to me 8) Almost something I would find myself putting down & noodeling over :D The Lead guitar was O.K. very expressive not sure of a few of the bends? But I like the feel you brought on the Lead!! 8) Keep us updated with the final, or the next cut :D
  • Thanks for the replys and encouragement. The next cut will have the bass track added (once Musician's Friend sees fit to send the bass) and I've composed a short acoustic outro while waiting for the bass as well.

The lead line isn't set in concrete at all, it will more than likely change and pick up a tapping riff once I get that sorted out.

Were the bends out of pitch? I have a terrible ear so the question is one that I need to ask.

    Thanks again.

PS. Rampage I re-mixed and turned all the tracks up so the next cut will be louder for ya.
  • yeah I was refering to pitch. They may be just fine the way they are? I was just asking more or less if you thought a few of them well realy just the one sounded of just a bit? If not go with it I'm sure no perfect pitch ear guy either  The one just kind of stuck out there to me that's all.

Had another listen check at around 1:43-1:45 the others sound pretty much on IMOP
  • I noticed a couple of bends missed the mark. The one Partch mentioned was out, as were some of the bend and releases you had. Not a big deal at all. Just practice your bends, and you'll be fine.

Overall, I really liked the tune. Great job.

I'm always trying to refine my playing, the bends will work their way higher on the list of things I need work on.

I have a little longer to refine things before my bass shows up, Musicians Friend has once again put it on back order, but this time I cancelled the order and got them to sell me a NEW (not blem) bass for the same price due to the PITA it's been.

    Thanks again for the inputs.
