  • Hey partch - very nice...I think the drums and the solo tone are a little too edgy for such a pretty song...I'd go for a gentler feel. But your voice sounds great...when you get the hang of the s/ware, you'll be doing wonderful stuff.
  • Hi Partch, What a great song that is. I believe your electric guitar is fighting against your voice, behind the verse. If it were me, I would play the melody with a little lower volume and softer tone, especially behind the voices. Wonderful Cross is such a powerful song, people should hear the message.

I believe the song should start out \"easy\" but build up tension in the second verse up to the chorus then hammer it on the opening of the chorus, which I am hearing. And now that I have gone back and listened a few more times, I believe your guitar work is real nice behind the chorus.

It's been a while since we have played Wonderful Cross. We play this in \"D\". When I follow the singers like that, I think I start my melody on the \"D\" note on the fifth fret of the A string. I use the neck pick up, with the tone softened a little, somewhere between 4 and 7, mind you I use a Strat style guitar too. Wow, I guess I am rambling sorry, not trying to tell how to interpret the song.

Partch, I have always been proud of the way you testify to your faith, don't ever stop.
  • Gettin' better all the time partch. Wish they'd let me play stuff like that in my church.

  • Very cool Brother Eric! :) I may learn that one for our fellowship. I agree with Mike B on the electric competing with your voice. You have a good voice – maybe try panning the guitar out of center. That will drop it more into the background. Praise Him! :D
  • Partch,

Nice song. I think it would be even better if you used acoustic guitar on the main verses and build in the electric guitar through the chours to a dinamic point and then fade out back to the acoustic with a suttle ending. Good singing and feeling. Keep up the good work. Jesus does love you! :D Amen!
  • Hey thanks all for your kind & honest comments 8) I agree with pretty much all of them. I Normally don't play melody on the Verse I just ring overdriven Chords on Verse 2 & 3 No electric guitar till verse 2 on this song as we do it at Church. The gutars were panned believe it or not & pulled way back I mean I could understand pretty much every word a few rough spots for sure. I like your Idea John of maybe not having Electric on the Verse but switch to clean & build in to the Chorus for verse 2 & 3 8) Anyhow thank's for listening guys I do appreciate & have learned so much from everyone at this site!! By grace draw near to the Wonderful Cross :D
  • Partch,
It pleases me to hear how much you have progressed since I first started listening to your posts. I agree that the most difficult thing for me has been working with the software and trying to get a believable drum track going. As far as the song I hear a more chorused clean electric guitar as opposed to a distorted one. Keep working with that drum software. You have great support here.
  • Hey Partch,

Cool tune, I agree about that the vocals needing to come up in the mix.

I really like the whammy bar work also 8) and the tone is sweet.

    Great stuff
  • Hey thanks alot Strat man!! I appreciate that 8) All is what I know is I will give it all I can until my time is up. I got started seriously with guitar later in my life than most BUT from here on out it's all out for the Lord 8) Hey Slash Thanks man!! Yeah I try to use the Whammy more & more just to add some flare to my playing, you know I got to help it everyway I can  Hey bud it's about that Valve JR? Did you get yours yet? I'm realy digging mine!! I think I'm getting it dialed in as to the sweet spot & getting used to using my knobs :D on the guitar  No seriously after you swap the tubes out for JJ's or something better this amp rocks!! I think you will like it
