is the rp350 true bypass?

hey, im getting a b-52 at-100 tube amp which has amazing clean, and dist. And i am also thinking about getting the rp350 so i can just use the effects. problom is, i have the gnx3000 and when i bypass it, it makes the amp sound bad. So i want to know if the rp350 does the same thing. Thanks!

  • not many that are including 350. In the sense of true bypass that is.
  • :? I thought I read somewhere that they worked on this bypass issue ...made a dedicated circuit or somthing they are calling true bypass... (I could be getting my facts tangled I have been researching alot of stuff latley)...but my RP250 sounds way cleaner than my GNX3 on bypass.
  • It would have to bypass the A/D/A stage to be hard bypass. I can't find this information.
  • 8) OK, I remembered reading that in the manual so I went and looked it up ...on page 2 under of all things  bypass mode. Heres what it says...

:P The RP250 can be bypassed via a \"TRUE ANOLOG BYPASS CIRCUIT\" for a clean, unprocessed guitar signal.

so there ya have it yet another reason to just love the New RP series :!:
  • THANK GOD! i didnt want to spend a fortune on stomp boxes, considering the rp350 has way more then ill ever need...........btw, anyone looking to buy a gnx3000?

Wow, I can't believe I missed that part. I missed it in my RP250 manual, and the RP350 manual I downloaded last night trying to find the answer to this question! But that's awesome... I'm gonna have to try this with an amp.
  • sorry, thought you meant modeling, not the bypass itself. previous bypass sounded processed and changed the guitar output signal level. If you meant direct modeling, that's another thing..
  • so all in all, the rrp350 does not process the output signal in bypass mode resulting in the amp to have it orignial tone, just as if the rp350 was not pluged in?

Yes you are correct sir. In bypass mode my RP250 is crystal clean with the same level of signal. Its brilliant  Thanks for listening Digitech . It was a most anoying fearture to have the bypass sound colored and weak in the GNX line. now this is completely resolved IMHO in the RP units.
  • But... as Mike said... if you're running in the front end of the amp, the \"Direct\" modeling stage is still there, even on an \"effects-only\" setting.
  • so i just need to run the pedal in the effects loop to get a crystal clean signal on a effects only patch?

:? perhaps I misunderstood the question. When I put my GNX3 in bypass mode the signal is weaker and colored. On the RP when I put it in bypass mode the signal is clear and of the same volume as the processed signal. This I assume is due to the new \"analog bypass circuit\"
  • when I talked to reps in PA, I asked about the efx only bypass. To bypass the unit is as they say, leaving your amp bone dry. Efx only can be a different thing, and is misunderstood as bypass. I had suggested the cleanest DIRECT models for this type of function. Previously they had suggested it would require additional internal routing that changes the entire pcb. Not sure of the purity in direct modes.
