tube amp + GNX

Has anybody found that their GNX sucks their tube amp of its natural sound ( i.e. the amp's distortion and clean etc) when the GNXis on bypass? I don't have one but I have found other makes like the LINE 6 Floor POD do this- the tone becomes all small when I run through the unit on standby. I don't want to sacrifice my beutiful tube tone for my GNX... so is this ever a problem? Also another question - If I have a weaker sounding guitar like single-coils and I'm trying to play Van Halen, will the GNX turn it into a monster or will it still sound like a strat going through a High-Gain amp? (which still won't rock as hard as I want it to). Thanks!

    I was not all that thrilled with the sound I was getting with my GNX4 and my Fender Hotrod Deluxe. I eventually ended up changing my home rig to studio monitors and a sub. I love the sound I get through this set-up.
    For when I am out jamming, I use a Fender Frontman with the GNX4. I noticed that the GNX4 sounds better through a solid state amp. That is my own personal opinion, though :wink:
    About your second question. If you have the opportunity to try out a GNX, DO IT! You will be amazed at what kind of tones you can achieve. The possibilities are almost endless. Right now, my GNX4 is only second to my axe as being my favorite piece of equipment.

    So do you think it's worth a $300 buy ( GNX300 ) if i really don't have another option than my Hotrod? and did it kill the tone.. .did the Hotrod sound worse on its own overdrives and cleans than it does normally?

    I did get the best sound when my amp was on clean tone. I would'nt Shy away fron the GNX though. These units are quite amazing. Just try one, and you'll see what I'm talking about. There are some amp models so close to the real thing, that if you listened to them with your eyes closed, you'll swear its the real thing. I would'nt trade my GNX for anything! well, almost anything :wink:

    a gnx workstation will kill your amps original sound if u put the pedal in bypass mode, but the new rp does not, go read the thread i posted call \"is the rp350 true bypass\"

    Good advice, but the GNX still blows away the smaller units. And they have more features. It is all just a matter of personal preference. That is my own opinion.
