Hot Rod Deluxe issues

Howdy I was wondering if anyone else has a fender hot rod deluxe. Is it natural to get high-pitched, screeching feedback when the treble of presence is turned up at \"high\" ( around 3) levels? And is it natural for the distortion to become less saturated and chunkieras you turn it up too? Might I need new tubes? Thanks!

No that's not natural. If you mean without the GNX.

You may have a bad preamp tube. usually outputs won't do that. You could also have other factors like caps, and or grounding issues on the main chassis. I'd try the tubes first. If you haven't changed them in a while, it's probably time anyway.

If it's a made in Mexico HR DLX then I'd resolder the output valve socket pins. It's common for the solder on the pins to go dry then crack. Also I agree with G3456 re checking preamp tubes. Replace the Groove tubes for a different brand.
