The biggest problem, from what I can recall of the solo, is that the harmony is not parallel (in other words, there isn't a fixed interval you can use). The somewhat smaller problem is that it changes from natural to harmonic minor, which is common in minor keys.
Those two issues aside, try Min 3rd up (your line starts with E-B-G-E-A-F#-D etc) and use E harmonic minor. I think that should give you at least a decent result.
