Private Message Notification - No Message

I received a notice from the forum that someone sent me a new private message. When I checked for the message, there was none. Does anyone know if there was a system error, or has anyone else received such a notice that did not lead to a new private message?

OK guys, head up -

We are going to disable PM functionality of the forum while Connie (admin) tries to work out this issue. Please post here if you get any more PM notifications in e-mail.

PM functionality has now been disabled. I will look into the cause of the \"phantom\" PMs and will reinstate the functionality if the problem can be eliminated. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Don't know if this helps...but I found this in the PHPBB manual....

Sometimes you may be informed of a new PM, but when you go to your Inbox, there is no new message. This is not a bug, it simply means that the sender must have deleted the PM before you read it.

Could be what happened? Some kind of mass Spam PM perhaps?

It seems to have to do with spammers, and actually looks like that's probably the cause! Now the trick is finding a workaround... :?

No we have not upgraded. This will have to wait until after NAMM, as the webmaster is very busy. There are additional bugs we're experiencing (mostly in moderator modules) that have been fixed in newer versions.

I also got a PM message but thanks for all the info regarding the problem. Nice to see that you people are on top of it. That tells me one big thing. You people are pros and not some kids pretending to be pros.

The board has now been updated to the latest release and Private Messaging has been re-enabled. Let me or Iliace known if you have any problems with this functionality.
