GNX 3000? OR GNX 4

i'm thinking about getting either the gnx 3000 or 4, but i'm not sure which is exactly better...
the 3000 looks like its got more features and offers more... but the 4 looks like it does more for recording, which isnt my biggest concern.
my buddy says that the 4 is newer and better, but i cant seem to figure it out, so i'd appreciate all input from you guys. thanks a lot.

  • The 3000 would probably suit you for that purpose.

The 3000 was released Sum NAMM 06 and is the newer of the two. You can scale the differences by looking at the online manuals.

GNX4 has many utilities and LIVE performance tools not applicable to any other unit in the lineups. Control assignment parameters, CF card capability for backing tracks, midi, mp3, On Board Recording, etc.

Depends on what role you have for the unit.
  • 3000 has a lot less features... if you're looking for features, GNX4 is the way to go. If you're looking for tones, and not the \"recording\" features, try GNX3000.
  • I have both. I prefer the gnx4 over the 3K. The preset switch delay, or the lag time between preset changes annoy me with the 3K and makes it less than ideal for a live situation. Although, I do think the \"right out of the box\" models on the 3K are more natural sounding than the gnx4.

With a little tweaking the gnx4 is just as good sounding imo. And with the gnx4, I also like the ability to assign multiple fx to the individual stompbox pedals, ie... the comp and noise gate to come on with the od.

I bought the 3K with live performance in mind... no need for the digital recorder. I expected it to be the same unit as the gnx4 without the 8 track digital recorder. Even though it sounds good I was dissappointed with the functional differences.
