Need help using GNX4 settings from Guitar magazines on GNX3.

Howdy!! :)

I just got a GNX3 about a week ago and have only just begun messing around with settings and such. Today, I was going through one of my guitar mags and they had the GNX4 patch settings for a bunch of transcribed songs (Guitar One and another both do this). I'm doing ok getting these things set up manually, except for one, or rather 4, things.

On the GNX4 settings, the first four headings are Channel One EQ, GeNetX, Channel Two EQ, and Tone. Obviously, I don't see those on the GNX3, so how do I go about getting these patches sounding right? Are these just a bunch of stuff that I don't have with the GNX3 and did I jump the gun in getting one of those on the cheap instead of a GNX4 (seeing as using those Guitar mag patches for their transcriptions was a huge thing I wanted to do, but thought the differences between the 3 and 4 were very minimal)? :(

  • Your best bet is to use the preset converter. Go to the link below and log in, then scroll down to the preset converter

You will also need to use the editor Genedit to load the converted patches
  • Dang....seriously?

I don't mind actually sitting down with the machine and inputting the patches by hand, but this sounds like I'm gonna have to buy a MIDI/USB cable and possibly even a Smartmedia card. A hundred bucks more than what I paid for the GNX3 itself (which is about what those two things would cost) and I could get a cheap GNX4. Hmmmm......

There's no other way to do this, huh? :(
  • there was a patch viewer online some time ago. Not sure if that site is still up or not. To make the best use of the GNX, the editor really helps. You do not have to have a SM card if you are not recording.
  • Ok, great!! You've been really helpful thus far, guitar3456, and I thank you.

However, I think viewing patches will just bring me back to the original problem, which is in Guitar World and Guitar One, they give you the parameters for their patches right in the magazine. Again, the first four going down the line of available effects on the GNX4 are Channel EQ One, GenetX, Channel EQ Two, and Tone (none of which are on the GNX3). So in viewing a patch, won't I just basically be at step one? As in having settings in front of me, but not knowing what to do with the first 4?

Is it even possible to use these patches with the GNX3 because of those 4 specific parameter sections? I mean, looking at the parameters, I can see that the Channel One and Two EQ's are head and cab settings and the GNX 3 has that, but I don't recall being able to switch back and forth between two channels (I could be wrong, though). Also, I don't even recognize those other two- GenetX and Tone. As such, can those 4 settings (or 3, if I can only set up one channel) even be done on the GNX3? Sorry, but like I said, I'm still new at the thing (and haven't had much time to mess around with it since college just started again, I work, and other things).

I thought the GNX4 was a small step up from the 3, which is why I got one, assuming I would still be able to set these patches up with it. But with the dual channels and two settings I've never even seen on the GNX3, am I going to have to just set up the rest of the effects and deal with it (which isn't going to work, since the amps and heads section is where the biggest part of the sound is going to come from)?

THanks for you patience, man. I know, I know....I can be a little frustrating some times. :)
