The Unforgiven

Back after a long time (not that many probably remember me though :) ) this time with a Metallica cover.

Vocals are two tracks with different settings to give a sort of spooky effect, not the best singing but I'm trying to improve.

The solo is one of my all time favorites, I just love to play it.

  • Hey fruitloop welcome back!! Hey bud I can't get either one of the sounclick files to work?? Could you just upload the MP3 to the Sound comunity with the Link? I would realy like to check the song out just can't seem to get it to work from the sondclick site
  • Ive seen Metallica 5 times...They RAWK!...so do you
  • Hey that's awesome! If it wasn't for the reconisable sound of the drum machine and the different sound of the lyrics i would have thought that it was a backing track! Well done, the unforgiven is one of my fave Metallica songs and this is an awesome cover of it.
  • Awesome I'm glad you liked it. :D

partch here I uploaded it to the sound community:

  • Man fruitloop that was great!! Did you start with a backing track & just added the guitar & vocals? Or did you make the backing track & all yourself? Anyhow that sounded fantastic your playing was pretty much dead on!! Like you said the singing well wasn't bad but like you said your working on it 8) You did make it yours though, I Dug It
  • Do you have a patch for this track? If you do could you email it to me or upload it to the sound community please, I've been looking for a patch for the unforgiven for a while now.
  • I had a backing track for this but I recorded every instrument again excepting the drums. 4 rhytm guitar tracks (distorted), 2 lead guitar tracks (1 clean, 1 distorted), 2 clean guitar tracks, 1 bass track, 2 vocal tracks and some miscellanous stuff on 1 track.

As stated above the rhytm guitar was a combination of several tracks with different settings so I don't have a patch for that. I have the lead (distorted) guitar patch and I can upload it if you want.

For getting a nice rhytm tone I would suggest making 2 or 3 different patches that can be used together. Have one that is bassier and has the 'rectifier' warped into it (with a clean amp), another with 'high gain' warped with clean and possible a third clean one with 'blackface' or 'clean tube'.

Pan them all differently and it should start to sound pretty good.
The key is to not have too much gain as it makes it muddy as opposed to crunchy.

Hope that is of some help.
