Aberraeshun - Addict

Hey all,
Just a little song I wrote about addiction. While I myself have never drank a drop or done any type of drugs, I have struggled with quitting tobacco lately. This is kind of just a rough draft but I'd like to know what you guys think about it. Hope you enjoy it.

  • That's great Jamie!! Praise the Lord you never got into drugs or alcohol been enslaved to that stuff 8) I did but I also found that way out Jesus Christ will indeed set the capives free :D Great song by the way!! Man I just felt that you are very talented at what you do  Thaks for sharing your tunes!!
  • Great sound…love that heavy rhythm you did…you have some great lead lines that kept it very interesting…Post more. :):):)
  • Thanks so much for the kind replies guys. I'm very glad you liked it. I've got several more song to post I'm just trying to clean the mix up a bit right now. I have a heck of a time getting enough volume but not distorting the overall volume. There's a secret to Pro Tracks Plus I'm sure, but I don't know it :P . I've got a rocky-bluesy song I'm going to post next. I just re-recorded the vocals on it this morning but didn't have time to mix it and post it. I'll try to get it on in the morning.
Again, thanks so much for the replies guys. Good or bad, it's good to know what people think about your music.

This song is an adrenaline rush! Totally kick ass! Great job. 8)

For max volume without clipping, it's a two step process...
First, you need a compressor to limit the random volume peaks.
Second, you need to \"normalize\" your track.
Normalizing will maximize your volume without distorting. The problem is, if you have volume spikes, it'll look at the biggest spikes and limit from there. Once you squash them down to a level that you're happy with, normalizing will increase your volume.
For this, a tri-band compressor is pretty awesome. It will target either bass, mid-range, or treble separately if you want. What's nice about it is that you can control bass for instance, yet keep your guitars dynamics going for a very organic sounding track.
Too much compression will sound flat and lifeless.

I can't wait to hear your other tunes.
  • I thought it was excellent. For only having a tobacco addiction you could have fooled me with that song, sounds like you were an addict for years, that's what a good artist can do, give the the feeling to all who listen.

Keep up the great work and keep posting!

ACwild has some great tips, his stuff sounds mint.
  • Nice Job!
I really like the guitar tones you have used.
There were some passages in this that reminded me of a tune GNX Jammer posted. Something about a train. But this is a good thing as Jammer is an excellant player, so this is a prop.
