$100 off at Guitar Center -what should I get

I got at certificate (auction door prize) good for $100 off on a $200 or more purchase. What does a guitarist who has just about everything get? Here are some thoughts I've had:

1) A pair of Shure 58's so my wife and I have matching mics - might be easier to mix.

2) An RP350 - It might be fun, ease of use, etc.

3) A bunch of strings - I can always use strings.

4) A cymbal pack for the drum rig - worthy of consideration, but I might do better at a pawn shop.

What do you guys think? I know its almost like the $250 what should I get question, but its much more open ended. Lets put a limit of $300 on the total cost, so I'd spend $200 at most.

  • Very moist Schecter.
'flood - if i were me, I'd want the matching '58s, sinc eI gather you perfrom with her a lot.
If I were me, I wouldn't want to spend it on stuff I'd buy anyway (like strings); I'd get something I might not have bought if I didn't get $100 off of it.
And don't get anything you can get a better deal on at a pawn shop, etc.
You say you have \"everything\" - so maybe get something you \"want\", but don't necessarily \"need\". Upgrade to existing eqpt? A new \"toy\" to try? A life-size Elziabeth Hurley for me???
  • I took Shredd's advice, get something I wouldn't get otherwise. That narrowed it down to the Electro-Harmonix micro synth, which I've always thought about but never owned, or the new Boss Micro BR recorder, since a) my iPod broke, b) I've wanted a portable decent quality recorder that I can take to seminars, songwriting workshops, etc. The Micro BR won out. So now I'll be in the market for deals on SD cards.
  • Here you go...

    $29.99 for a 2GB SD card.

LOL... Plus you get a free 128MB card... It's pretty bad when they have to give those things away!!!
  • I left Guitar Center empty handed the other day. Wierd cause I had money to burn and drove an hour each way. As big as the store is I think I need a \"mall size\" Guitar Super Center, err wait just let me demo all the stuff in the Musician's Friend warehouse :D Err, back to the topic. Guitar Center is doing an extra %10 off everything for 3 hours Friday morning if anyone hadn't heard.
  • :D I spent 99.00 bucks at GC on a presonus tube PRE . very nice tube sound to warm up most any mix. 8)

  • First experience with the Micro BR was not very good. I bought a 2 GB SD card at Best Buy, and the Micro BR would not format it. Boss provides a list of tested cards with the machine, but they are only 512M and 1GB cards. Bottom line - I ordered a couple of approved 1GB cards, and now I have a 2 GB card that is probably useless. I ordered up a card reader, so maybe I can format it when I get the card reader. Otherwise, I'll have PNY 2GB SD card available cheap.
  • On black Friday I ordered that Behringer Ultra G cab sim(not in stock) with the 10%off $35. There were no RP250s or Rp350s in the store to test. I knew better to even ask about a GNX4 demo this time. Coffee and doughnuts were good and some pretty girls working to cheer the day.

Most of the mass marketing makes too many people all sound the same. I like to pick and choose and mix and match and yes window shop sometimes. :D
