Hi dudes,
Just checking in. Hope everyone is doing fine. It's great to catch up with all the posts etc. Though I did notice a bit of \"Mike bashing\" going on again. What is it with these dudes. Man, these fools anger me. It's like some kind of a personal vendetta. Still I suppose there's one born every minute.
Anyway, I can't say that I'm enjoying my time here in Bosnia, not much to do so far other than work. Missing my GTR like crazy now. Still on the bright side of things the UK government announced that it is going to pay UK Forces personnel a £2000 (approx) tax free bonus for those on 6 month operational tours (that'll be me then). So it looks like I may treat myself to a nice gibson LP when I get home to UK in Mar 07. Though I will be fortunate enough to get my R & R in for Xmas and New Year
I will drop, in a few days time now that I have internet access. One of the most annoying things is that I can't get to hear the new tunes posted yest as the PC I'm using has no speakers, and they have the audacity to charge me 4 euros an hour to use the bugger!!! :evil: Still I will have limited free access and speakers the odd time via work.
Hey shredd how's the employment situation working for you now, have you got anything sorted out yet?

Sorry if my posts looked like Mike bashing to you. Thast was not my intention. I am not discussing/bashing a person. I am discussing some ideas posted by a person.
I find it hard to keep quiet when someone claims that Amp gain is the same as Mic placement or that a Chorus is the same as a Phase reversal on a speaker driver.
It is very hard to keep one's peace when another senior member posts that changing a speaker cab can change the equalisation of the Amp it is connected to.
Or a claim that it is the number of stages in an Amp is the only determiner of its sound ( hence by that logic, all 3 stage amps sound the same)
Spreading stories like that is plain misinformation and does not serve the community well.
But I can understand your predicament, Peaceful discussions about technical points on sound engineering could appear as bashing to the uninitiated. However you have noticed that I never call anyone names and make no personal attacks. We are only discussing technical claims.
I would never stoop to call anyone a \"fool\" on a particular subject.
To me, a fool is not one who does not know. Its one who refuses to learn.
And if I ever needed to, I would immediately back it up with a pertinent proof related to the subject being debated. Have you any technical comments regarding mic placement or how a chorus works ?
I suggest that if you find some spare time in Bosnia, maybe you could read up on the subject. Then you might realise that changing the position of a Mic does not change the gain of the Amp it is connected to.
And a Chorus is a very different animal than a Phase reversed Speaker !!!

Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're OK. We're all thinking about you.
My emplyment sitch is basically unraveled...my employers are away til mid December, but when they get back I think it's gonna be all over. The disaster I was sure would happen at the end of the summer seems to be coming in December, so I'm hoping things will wash out and I'll be OK, and not living under a bridge and working night shif at wendy's. :shock: Thanks for thinking of me...it's ironic, considering how I think about active duty military when ever I want to put things in perspective.
