Keeping it Clean (By Tal)
Well...
Broke my trusty ES175 out for this one. 12 guage flat wound strings and all

.
Man....
I don't know why..I just love the sound of a big old fat jazz box cranking away. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
The tune is only 2 guitars and a midi drum. I have been recently working on keeping a walking bass line going while playing the chords at the same time. That's what you're hearing in the rhythm section. Patch used in the rhythm part was the CLEAN late nite patch..
The lead part is my trusty ES 175 on the CLEAN Pat Jazz Patch with reverb thrown in.
Both patches pretty much simulate my REAL amps (Roland JC120 and my JC60) pretty damn close..
I really dig the walking bass/Chord stuff and I will probably incorporate some more of this stuff in my future compositions.
Hope you guys dig the tune...

Made my month..
I wrote this tune backwards from the way I write most of my stuff.
I wrote out the chord changes first, while playing with the walking bass, while chord comping at the same time. Then I wrote out the melody.
Inspiration for the walking bass/chord comping came from this fabulous instruction vid from jazz guitarisist \"Kevin Van Sant\"
Really a pretty cool technique. If you get the time, watch the vid. The guys an excellent instructor and player. 8)
The melody line is pretty short on this one. (About 12 seconds.
The melody starts at the 00:34 to about 00:46 and is repeated at various intervals through out the piece. The rest is pretty much a jam. 8)
Worked on the chord progressions a couple weeks, and the melody about 2 days. This piece, I just wanted to jam to mostly, after the chords were written down. Maybe a few rough spots in the lead work, but I didn't want the lead work to sound canned. I wanted that jamming feel to the piece.
Thanks once again for taking a listen and you wonderful comments... 8)
See Ya,
Tal. 8)
God Bless you!! As you keep it clean!!

I dig the Mr. Clean avatar..I think Tal Farlow would approve as well, in this world of wailing, overdriven guitars..
Jazz and blues aint dead...
They just smell funny..
Sorry I did not get to reply to this post sooner. Life for me has been a bit crazy lately.
I love the sound of the guitar! I think my head would explode if I tried to play something like that. I have a hard time chewing gum and playing at the same time.
Great job as usual! Man you can play.

Hey Tal can you tell me what is the difference between the L5 and a Byrdland model?
Mike....
A Byrdland is a thin bodied carved archtop with shorter scale length than an L5
