Shifty

Drug the new gnx4 to the music store to run it through some various monitors and a 50/50. Started out with the Beringer truths and after picking a drum beat and laying down a rhythm went back and slapped some notes over the top. I walked out with the truths and data on the gnx4.

  • Tyrant,
Pretty darn cool capability the GNX4 gives you eh 8) Man I love my GNX4!! Hey nice little jam there man!! What do you think of the GNX4 thru monitors? I play mine thru Cheap Kustom Monitor with the Sub replaced with Emminence Moddeling 12 speaker, Just sounds great thru FR system IMOP. Good to see you post some music!! Keep at it.

    God Bless!!

  • Yep...
The GNX4 is the cat's Meow...
Pretty fair pickn' my friend. 8) .

    See Ya,
    Tal.. 8)
  • Sounded pretty good to me. It's definitely a great composing tool. Wait until you tweak it to where you want it. 8)
  • Thanks for the listen and comments. Definitely high gain, overplayed(w/mistakes) and not much movement but I was quite surprised at the ability of this unit. (and being able to work in recorder mode so easily) The unit through the truths is amazing. Off to tweak some patches and write some drum/bass lines.
  • Hey! I thought the gnx was the shortcut
Thanks for the link. I do have the BBE vst plugin for Sonar. I'll see what I can come up with. Probably a less is more approach. After reading the comments on this site, I'll be picking up the mfx disc soon. Just got the gnx and have been too busy playing. lol After barely playing the last few years due to injury this new equipment coupled with Sonar has got me stoked.
I thought the rhythm sounded pretty fat. Except the drums and rhythm were on the same stereo track. Lead w/ too much highend. My Sonar skills aren't so good, it was about all I could do to add a fadeout at the end.:D Levels barely into the red. I did notice a massive difference between what I hear in Sonar with some Sony studio phones and the exported Broadcast wave let alone the mp3. Export 32bit broadcast wave to 256 -altstandard. Wave to cd is virtually flawless though. Looks like I have alot of research/practice ahead.
  • The GNX drums are good for composing, but are lacking for a final track. You'll notice that the cymbals have a fizziness to them. Since you have Sonar, you can run a CAL script to separate the GNX drums so that you can set the levels how you want and eq some of the cymbal fizziness out.
  • Hey AC, could you provide some information on how to go about using a CAL to seperate the gnx drums from the rhythm guitar?
  • Hey there Tyrant,
I like it! I'm a big fan of heavy distortion, and you got some good stuff going on there 8) 8) . Nice pickin :D
  • Thanks insideout, glad you liked it. I'm currently noodling with how to mic this Mesa Stilleto and get the keyboard to play through me monitors. So much to learn and so little time. Now if I can just find a way to upload the Sonar manual into me brains, I'll be satiated for say.....a week or so. Maybe I'll call Johnny Nuemonic. :)
  • Be careful if you upload the entire manual into your head - it will make you most top heavy  :? . It still blows my mind (small explosion :? ) how much Sonar offers for less than $300 8)
