Midi Syncing to PTP

OK I've gotten my workstation to recognize midi info from the PC, but when I try to make settings in PTP for Midi sync or 30 ndf the settings will not stay. Ticks per quarter note stays, but everythingelse on this menu will not stick. Same goes for the Midi Out menu. Does anyone know why? My USB midi device is being recognized OK. My midi indicator on my workstation lights up when I start PTP. But thats about as far as I get. Also I occasionally get a popup saying \"SMPTE/MTC timecode detected. Change to SMPTE and restart playback?\" If I press yes, thats it. It freezes and I have to restart the PC to do anything else from that point.

I just want the silly thing to play in sync with my workstation so I can edit tracks. :(

I asked the same question about syncing the GNX4/PTP with midi clocks in another forum. The response I got was that midi clock sync is not programmed into the GNX4 or PTP. Sorry.

I have used midi clock sync on my hardware/software since the 1980's. I don't know why it is being left out as an option on the newer hardware/software. Maybe there are better ways to do the same thing without using the midi sync? Good luck.
  • I think I found your posts on the subject. This has been the only thing I've called Digitech about that they havent been able to find an answer for. Poking around PTPs midi sync menu and its refusal to accept any changes kinda made me think it wasnt going to work. Thanks anyway. I'm thinkin about getting a version of Sonar or something else now.

I thought of that too. But since my GNX4 does not have midi sync, I don't know where I would come out ahead. I think leaving midi snyc out of these new products is an unfortunate oversight, probably as a result of guitarists designing the products and not working with old time midi keyboard players. That is my guess. Best wishes.
  • Great thread guys. Wonder if there's a workaround here and let us know. http://www.pureenergymultimedia.com/news/2.htm clock sync black box

  • M-Audio Blackbox (and AdrenaLinn before it) has a full-featured MIDI implementation including sync. GNX needs something like that.
