Midi connection to PC

Wow I must have been gone a while. My password didnt work anymore. Got a GNX 4 and a Genesis 3. GNX is easy enough to use with PTP and my Midisport Uno works fine with my G3. But......

Does anyone know if the Uno is compatible with PTP? I cannot get PTP to sync up with my workstation no matter what I set things to either way. The Uno shows USB activity and Midi in activity. If anyone has any hands on experience syncing this program with outside gear and namely using the Midisport Uno to do it, I would appreciate the advise. I truly believe that there is something not set right in PTP to allow this or maybe it just don't work to begin with. Anybody?

  • Try downloading the latest Midisport drivers.
  • If I understand your question correctly, you want to record with your Genesis 3 in ProTracks Plus...

With the GNX3 lots of people used the UNO. It worked great! But only for patches. You couldn't do anything with the drums or recording with the UNO and a GNX3. Strictly patches.

If I'm correct the Genesis 3 is the same as the GNX3. The only thing you should be able to do with the UNO and your Genesis 3 is send CC commands like the ones in the back of your manual, and use GenEdit.

Now with that said... you should be able to connect your Genesis 3 to your sound card's mic input and record that way. You could also connect your Genesis 3 to your GNX4 and record that way. Run your Genesis 3 to the LINE INPUTS on the back of the GNX4 and make sure you turn down your output levels on the Genesis 3 before you turn it on, you dont want to run it too hot into the GNX4.

  • :D I ran my GNX3 through my VX400 (same USB setup) when me & KiLLiN-TiMe recorded Black WTR and it worked great. The gnx4 or any of the USB version digitech devices make great computer interfaces too. 8)
  • What exactly are you sync'ing?
  • My son has the GNX 4. I use the G3. With a Edirol UA-1D I can send S/PIDF to PTP no problem. I just had to change it to a different driver in PTP. Thank you Digitech customer support. I record on Roland VS machines and I like to mix in PTP. I have just recorded 2 at a time and manually lined them up but this is silly. I use the Midisport Uno for syncin the G3 to Genedit and it works fine but I cannot get the VS machine to sync with PTP. There I think that about covers it.

I cant sync my VS recorder with PTP. Does anyone know how?
    Thanks
