Let me know

This is a arrangement that I am trying to work out.
It is not done yet but I thought I would post to get some comments first
before I get to deep. It is a Steve Miller tune called Mercury Blues.

  • Thats some good old sleazy rock 8)
  • Thanks Slash
My Billy Gibbons influence got the best of me.
  • Hi Thatsastrat,

Cool start for a tune…The only thing that jumps out at me is all the reverb on leads…I think if you were to bring them out front more (less reverb) and do some double leads it would really sound cool…I have not heard the original so maybe the original had lots of reverb?..don’t stop…keep it going. :):)
  • Sounds like a tune to listen to with shades on. 8) I like it a lot except I agree with Kirk about the 'verb. It drowns out some of the leads notes. The leads are also overpowered by the drums, but I don't know if that's an effect that you were going for.
I can't wait to hear the rest. :D

I wanted heavy verb and drums on this one.
But I wanted to put it out there to see if what I wanted plays.
Thanks for the listen and helpful comments as well.
  • Stratman,
I realy liked it!! Driving Bass Line!! Very nice leads!! I have not heard this original either but my only comment was the Reverb effect as well. I was going to ask if you were going for the hall big sound if so awsome!! it certainly did not hurt my feelings any or take away from the song. I was just going to ask that, and you said thats what you were shooting for so Rock on Strat man!! this was very coooooooool!!

    God Bless you!!

    P.S.
I would ask when I can get it uploaded check out my new tune. espesially the drums. They are Jamstix Free Jam So I did basically nothing other than a little setup & played it supplied the Drums. I'm realy considering buying this program. I have the demo now. I have to play with alot of the other things & modes etc.. but right now it is looking very cool!! Thanks!!
  • Partch,
Thanks for the listen. After viewing the posted comments i think I will go back and try to tame the reverb on the one guitar track and pull the drums back a little. All guitar parts were done on the GNX3. The software that was used was Music Creator 3 (cakewalk) and for the drums I used Drums on Demand. These are actual recordered drum loops that are great and easy to use. They have a web sight where you can check them out. Here are the settings I used for the GNX.

    Bass Line- Factory setting Tripplets
Left Guitar - A Floyd patch from sound community
Right Guitar - Factory setting Solo
    Drums - Drums on Demand

I will be waiting for your next post and will give a listen and reply with a post. Thanks again.
  • 8) Very \"TV Dinners\" sounding! I mean that in a good way I am a huge Billy Gibbons fan. (file under stupid trivia but...) my GTR pal has one of Billy Gs hot pink humbuckers in his hammer. a friend of his had it gifted to him by the man himself. Its a custom job I'm told and it came out of one of those pink furry guitars you see him spinning around. It sounds super phat and has alot of saturation when distortions involved. I love that thing Paul will never sell it as it is one of his secret ingredients in his awsome tone.

    8) I really dig the atmosphere you created with your reverb. however it is alot of atmophere. 8) so you might wanna ease up on it just a wee bit  A Terriffic tune :!: Lets here another remix :D:D
  • Ok I have re-mixed the idea and thanks to your comments I think it sounds alot better. You folks let me know what you think.

  • Man that's such a cool tune! 8) The mix is much better and clearer this time. The only thing is that the bass is very dominant and a little unclear. Maybe filtering out some bass from it. This will help the drums breathe much better. Just leave everything else and drop the bass volume a touch, filter out some of the lows for clarity, then I think you're done.
    Nice job!

I did what you said and it did help. Thanks!
But I am not going to re-post this lame horse.
    Thanks to all that listened.
  • I dont think it was a lame horse
Anyway I think the second post was much better and with the bass volume turned down a little bit I am sure it sounds great now!
  • Hey Strat....
Man you sure you aint from Texas?
    Great playn' dude... 8)

    See ya,
    Tal. 8)
  • 8) I dig this mix man it sounds great...you should try some vocals now. 8) great Jam. 8)
