MIDI won't play on GNX4

I created a drum track with Protracks and saved it to my cf card the way
the tutorial said. The file shows up on the card. I turn off the cf stor, try
to play it and nothing. An mp3 right next to it plays fine.
With the cf stor on, I click the file and it plays on windows media (as a
keyboard).
I'm using the GNX4Completedrums drum map.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

  • Yes, you may have to set the midi channel to CH 10 (default drums) that's why the Media player thinks it's a piano. You may have the setting for Omni.

Go into the PTP midi window and select the output channel to Midi Ch 10 (click for dropdown expansion window)

Normally the drum map is default to the appropriate channel. be sure when you \" save as\" to the GNX CFcard, you save with .mid extension.

    Rockdrum1.mid

    save as Midi Type 0

Playback via GNX4 drum mach. Advance your drums via the dial wheel. You should see your drum files after the metronome. Select using the drum machine transport.
  • What g3456 means in his first sentence is that you may NOT have set the midi channel to channel 10. For the GNX drum machine to react to the midi file, the data has to be on channel 10. Follow g3456's instructions and you should be fine.
  • Thanks Phil-

don't forget that using the Midi file with the GNX drum mach gives you access to all the kits, and you can change them as desired.
  • I got it to work.

    thanks for your help. :)
