Boom Boxes / Wave Radios as Amps

Bought a sweet 21' camper yesterday and we're sticking it up in a N.H. campground. The GNX4 is going to be a nice campfire addition for impromptu get togethers and such, and I'm wondering how well boom boxes will perform at low levels one would play at in that setting....blending with a live acoustic or unplugged vocalists. I figure it'd be good to keep a smaller multi function box up there so I could hit all the bases of musical entertainment, CD's, MP3's, Radio, GNX4. Thought about a Bose Wave Radio, but I know some of the less expensive units at Circuit City etc. also have line-in function. Am I going to roast one of these units ? Any feedback on this concept ?

  • Hey hodge, as long as the unit(ha ha ha, I said unit) has a video/Aux line your good to go. I use a mini stereo all the time with my GnX3,works great for our little backyard jams.Hook up a mic and have FX on the voice, or mic an acoustic. If you get a stereo with a tape player in it, you could even record those campfire jams that get REALLY good.

  • The GNX4's output level can get pretty high and beyond standard phono input limits. You can use it, but start with the GNX master level on the rear panel at minimum.
