Tuning to C or drop C

What guage do you guys use when tuning to this? I've tried 10 - 52 but the treble strings seem too loose so I just put a set of 12- 52 with a wound G. Seems much better and doesn't put too much tension on the neck.

I use ernie ball power slinky 11-48 and beefy slinky 11-54 just depend which i can find i perfer the beefy slinky but they are hard to find around here.

My old Charvel is tuned C-C with Erine ball slinky 11's as well. Works pretty good.(which reminds me,I should change them soon)

i always use a custom set that i pull from different setsss my local store hooks me upp but for lower tunings i use 12, 16, 24w, 32, 44, 54, EB medium light if i can find them they usually dont hold in stock long and they hold tonality very well

You could also try the GHS \"Zakk's\" I think there made up of half a set of 13's for the bottom end and half a set of 9' for the high end. There is some minor work that has to be done to your axe to put them on though, i.e. might have to file the nut to except the low E string(the string is freakin huge :shock: ) and of course a truss rod and bridge adjustment.

So are you guys using a wound third string? It actually feels quite natural. I normally play 10-46 when tuned to E.
