\"HEY\" - anger management song!

OK guys, I really need you to go easy on this one. This was just a pissed-off-at-my-boss, bashing chords kind of venting session. Very cathartic, but when I listen to the result I'm not that impressed...crappy solos, solo sections all different gains, drums too far back in the mix, vocals WAY out in front (I just got a condenser mic and I'm still getting used to it), the echo I put on the vocal didn't \"show up\" in my mix, yadayada.
the one thing I do really like is the loop I based it on...good stereo mix, decent sounds.
It ain't a great piece of studio work, but all I wanted to do was get my steam off at my boss's wife. Wench. You know how gorgeous, rich women can be.
So...with all that in mind, let's have your comments!!!

  • Hey Shred you useing a GNX4 or is that a 3000. nice clean tones in that loop I like it too. 8) RAWKON 8)
  • HEY YOU!!The new mic sounds great. Just keep play'in with it (the song you sicky  ):lol: I'm sure you'll work it into something you'll be more happy with.
  • That was really good, good chord bashing to say it was getting at your Boss. Liked how the two guitars were doing different things and nice patch used for the solo :D
  • shredd,
Not to bad!! How did you end up doing the Vocals?? I know you were asking about a patch or something for vocals?? I ask because I need to figure out something that works for me a patch or something?? I know I'm not a great singer & all but I have just not been happy with my vocal attempts!! It may me my mic?? For my purposes at the time when I bought the mic I got the cheapest Shure I could find?? PG48 I wish now I would have got & SM58!! I think that is part of my issues??

    God Bless Shredd!!
    Partch

    P.S.
Don't be afraid of the Vocals I think you are well capable of putting some good Vocals down to some of your cool tunes!!!
  • Shredd, you're an animal!! I want your boss' wife more than ever  . Can we make a deal - I'll get you Brooke Burke's number if you get me the \"wench's\" number  Hey man, you're being pretty tough on yourself in your comments. It sounded like you're just a couple tweaks away from a great mix. 8) I liked the tune, and you crack me up!

GNX4...thanks for the props - I found a dozen things wrong with the song or the mix, but I LOVE the loop! I'm gonna keep if for future use...

Thanx PG...I love the new mic, just gotta figure out my @$$ from my elbow...had a great echo effect going on my voice, and somehow it didn't show up on the recording. THAT needs playing with. As do I - when you gonna send me one of your hott leftoever groupies???
I don't know how much I'll play with that song...I just binged it out to vent my wrath at my boss's wife. But I LOVED the loop I used, and I'll probably work that into someting...

Thanks - killer loop eh? To me, it was the one part of the song that really worked. I'm gonna save it and use it in something else; this song was just to 'vent'.
I have the '4, and for solo I used two patches I've gradually diddled into useable shape...one is a gilmour patch, another is one i use for Victim Of Love....
PS good luck at your big gig, be sure to catch us up when it happens..

Thanks partch - for the vote of confidence re: vocals. Now that I have a decent mic, I plan to keep trying vocals, even if my lyrics ain't great...
I didn't record the vocals with the GNX, so no patch. they were right into the board. That's why I'm mystified that the echo/etc I added didn't show up on the recording. Gotta figure that out.
As far as mic's/vocals go...I also think my singing is fairly pitiful, so far...but since I'm not trying to make record companies or throngs of adoring groupies happy, I'll just put 'em in and not care if they aren't so great.
SM58 is rumored to be a terrific stage mic, but no so much for recording. I'd recommend a condenser, even the cheapy I got MXL990, only $69 from M/Friend. Sounds great, great price...good luck, keep us updated, and post a song w/your vocals!

Thanx 'out...glad you enjoyed the tune, and my (rather peculiar) \"style\".
You ain't the only one that wants her  ...ALL her \"friends\" are men. She's one of those women who is hott at any age, and keeps gettin' hotter. The only reason I don't want her is 'cuz I work for her and I know what a wench she is. (what's that cliche`: \"for every gorgeous woman, there's a man who's tired of putting up with her $H|+\")...
But if you really want her, I'll trade you phone numbers. Frankly, I've got as good a chance w/Brooke as you do w/her. She's a hard woman.
ANNNyway..I'm glad you liked the tune, 'cuz it's studio work I'm not very proud of, I usually do better. But this is a tune I didn't much care about, it was \"power chord therapy\" for me.
  • Sorry shredd  ,my \"HOT\" groupies are more like \"saggy\" floppies these days  Too True
  • cool original
maybe you should let her have a listen b4 you throw her off a cliff
  • Cool tune Shredd.. 8) ...
It's got that Clarence Carter feel to it...
I kept waiting for you to start singing...
\"Strokin' to the left, Strokin' to the right\"
    Seriously dude..
    Very cool. 8) .
And nothing wrong with the vocals at all.. 8)

    See Ya,
    Tal.. 8)
  • I liked that atmospheric phaser thing. I had probs with beautiful females at work too, so I feel with you man.
  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>Shread

You are a trip! I liked this song. The guitar parts were good, and the vocals made the song! At least you have the balls to sing!
    Great work!
I hear all the hot women go for the singers in the band anyway!

Thanx bud. That phas-ey sound was actually my trustly ol' Roland Juno. Had to fit that into a song somewhere...
But I thought Swiss women were all luscious alluring beauties? You mean you have NORMAL women there?!? I thought I'd wander Europe for a while, find a nice man-lovin' woman. I thought the USA had dibs on man-hatin' women... :?

Hey 'boey...glad you liked the song! I actually thought it one of my poorer efforts, since I banged it out in a huff over my boss's wife, who is very difficult yet so beautiful you can't help yourself. Ugh. Anyway, I didn't do much multi-takes or mixing or getting anything right; just threw it together. \"Power-chord Therapy\".
And the vocal was to try out my new condenser mic, which has the effect of making even my gravel-pit voice sound good. Well, better, anyway. I hope to do more singing, as I find/write tunes to suit my somewhat limited voice.
As far as women and singers go...is that true? Doesn't that mean if I can play a guitar AND sing, that hott groupies should be beating my door down?
I hadn't heard such great things about lead singers. The consensus is they can be difficult to work with. Hence the joke (I put it in the 'music humor' thread):
Q: \"How many lead singers does it take to screw in a light bulb?\"
A: \"Only one. He just holds the light bulb, and the world revolves around him.\"

PS if you bump into the woman from Columbia I was seeing, and she's still totally insane... tell her I've got a restraining order on her. :?
  • Shredd : I hadn't heard such great things about lead singers. The consensus is they can be difficult to work with.

  Hey! I resemble that remark
 Actually us singer dudes aint that bad...but we do rake in our fair share of the Booty at Gigs.

Well then! I guess I better get myself some gigs...even if I do sing like Fran Drescher and Gilbert Godfried's love child. If I could sing like you, I'd probably have some luck with the hotties too!!
Nothin' personal, anyway...just a broad generalization. And a good joke, unless you are one! 8)
So...do hott groupies ever go for the guy that tapes down the cables and sleeps through the gig slumped against the PA cases and drooling down his chin??
Just kidding. I can actually play, even sing a bit...just can't seem to give up this \"job\" thing to make time for a band, get some gigs, and score a hottie. 'Course, if I didn't have a job, I couldn't afford things like a GNX and new strings... :? sigh...so when is Elizabeth Hurley going to beat my door down and take me away from all this???
  • Shredd - I actually like the mix in this one, other than the gains in the solos - they could be back a little bit. Lyrics are cool. Nothing like bee-yotch getting on your fanny to inspire songwriting!!

You said it. My job would be considerably better if she'd spend more time naked. But then, whose woulnd't??
Anyway...thanks for giving the tune a listen. As I've told the others, I sorta threw this together in a bad mood, so it ain't my best studio work. But...it seems like guitar solos in most of my songs tend to be \"out front\" a bit...I think I must like them that way. Perhaps with experience I'll develop a more discriminating ear, and do better mixes.
Or else I'll lure Bob Clearmountain out of retirement...
  • Hey Shredd!
This song brought a huge smile to my face. Sure, it's a song about venting, but it's a good-time song about venting. I'd love to hear this at a bar.
