I just need a little advice on intonation and setting my USA 2004 strat up a little better ?
I've noticed it's not staying in tune as well as it used to.??
The factory settings were o.k. but after 6 months of use, the 'factory set' action was just too high, and now everything i try doesn't work ?
Anyone got a recent strat with similar probs.??
I tried laying the tremelo flat on the deck ...but it still slips outta tune ?? Maybe the heads are the problem?
Intonation tips welcome.

If you don't use the trem, block it. Cut a piece of wood to fit snuggly between the trem and the bottom edge of the body cavity where the trem rests. If you are using the trem, it is, quite logically, a notorious source of pulling strings out of tune. The trick is to get the trem to always return the exact position it was in before using it. Since you have a US strat, I would presume you don't want to make too many changes to it. One that you can make without being able to return to a stock state is to replace the stock nut with a graphite nut. More radical solutions include replacing the tuners with locking tuners, either Spezels or Planet Waves, and adding a roller nut. I have one strat which has a blocked tremolo, and stock tuners, but I replaced the stock saddles with black Graphtech saddles, and I have no intonation issues with it. On the other hand, I have a Clapton strat which I have kept stock, and with the Klusons and the original nut and saddles, I find I have to retune frequently. (And yes, I do stretch my strings.) I also find that heavier gauge strings seem to hold tune better. I use 10/46 on my Fenders.

what bout a forum with help on my les paul intonation

I had to bring it to my friends house to get done he did my bc rich now my les paul i wish i knew how to do it myself

I tightened the machine heads and it's hanging in a little better.
So simple !
