Picture of the Week

Hey All,

I submitted a photo to the manufacturer of my super cool drift boat I just got this year, and I just found out it was chosen on their site as their photo of the week. 8)

www.clacka.com

Just scroll to the bottom (right) of the page.

A couple of guide pals and I all had the same day off earlier this month, so what do we do...fish the river we guide on every day! Anyway we had lots of fun, beer and trout. The trout in the photo measured 23\" and ran 120' of line in about 2 seconds...

Thanks fer lookin'

Dobb.

  • nice one dobb(the boat and the fish)

man you got a sweet job.must be nice to be able to take a deep breath of fresh air without gaging. And to think you get PAID for doing that :P
thanx for sharing cough cough :)
  • Nice size Fish there and a very nice boat. I used to fish for carp with my mate, got some nice catches, but i lost interest in fishing after getting more into guitar.

i wish we had trout like that round here, we only have lodges to fish in. The rivers only have crappy 1/2lb rainbow trout. :D
  • Thanks for sharing this, and congratulations on your catch. I love camping and fishing on rivers, and sharing the good times with my Bro's. You are a kindred spirit. \"It don't get any better than this\"...huh!

Alberta, Canada too. We are not too far apart. I'm coming for a day of fishing with you sometime! Likewise, if you are ever in Leland, Michigan, let me get you hooked onto some King Salmon. :D
  • Hey Dobb,
Very nice fish!! I love to fish but rarely get out anymore with Kids & Guitar. I know when he gets a little older and posibly interested and capable of fishing we will probably go out alot!!

    God Bless!!!
    Partch
  • Thanks for the compliments Guys,

Fly fishing and axe wielding have definatly been my passion(s) in life. It's always been a dream to make money at something I'd pretty much do for free (shhhh!).

On the 17th, I took Washington Capitals Asst Coach Jay Leach, and one of his good pals out for a day...what a riot! These guys smoked fat cigars, drank beer, and their N.H. \"go from the bahh to the cahh\" accents were hilarious (no offense). Anyway, Jay's pal caught the monster Brown at 25\", so the heat was on to get him a monster brown...within an hour he snapped off two slobby browns, on one the knot (tied by me) let go...ooooohhhh that hurt and he let me know man!

Darn gotta go...here's the link to some pix:

    Top o' the page...thanks bro's...Manitou you're welcome anytime...I fished in Traverse city once...Chow Bro's

    Dobb.
  • Thank you, and I'll do that. I already missed the Stampede this year, so I'll shoot for next. Who knows...I've been leaning toward living nearby you and keep getting tugged in that direction. I have a friend who lives in Cranbrook.

Hmmmm...hows the Elk herd doin' ? Maybe I'll do a road trip right now.
I have a job waiting for me there, when I choose to accept it. I will for a couple years atleast. You live in one of the most magnificent places on Earth.
  • man lookin at those pics makes me ENVIOUS
I want to come up there too
    looks awesome
    :)
  • theres good fishing here sometimes ... but it's hit and miss

last time I went we chartered a boat and went out 90 miles lookin for albacore. To no avail---I got my hook in a beautiful el dorado(the golden) but because of my lame knot tying skills he lives on :cry:

It was a $300 boat ride and it still hurts
Somebody call the wambulance or wine11
  • Hey snaggletooth,
you live in a very beautiful place too. I LOVE S. California. I would say during the Springtime...any male on the Planet would be envious of your home!!!

I did surf fish off the beaches of Imperial Beach, long time ago. Actually in some spots, we waded out over a 1/2 mile off shore. Felt weird being out so far, but got some nice Pompano's.

I think it is agreed, some of the richest fishing water's in the whole world are close by you as well. How's yer Spanish?
  • well I don't know much but enough to get by. I work with some latinos so I learn new stuff all the time. Since I'm married I don't need most of the spanish I know----pick up lines--Oh ya

yeah you'd think I'd have a freezer full of fish but instead it has venison

surf fishing is a blast---did you use sand crabs for bait?

Its cool when you find a sand bar way out there. The place where we go to ride waves is like that. The surfers are way out past the sand bar and us bodysurfers are closer to beach. The waves break twice---once for them then the wave passes the sand bar and builds again and we ride em. A good time---the fishermen are there when we get there and I always watch em to see how their luck is.

    Haha...LMAO.
I learned a different Spanish starting out, working in S.Texas on construction sites.
I did a course in HS and later selfhelp books. But living in Spanish speaking areas helps more than anything.
Reason I asked is that Baja water is the place to be. God I love it there and the Mexican people are great too.

Yeah...sand crabs, and shrimp. You run out real quick though, so it is good to have some squid as well. I'd even run out of that, so I'd like catch a croaker and use him for cut bait. Shore was too far off to go looking for more bait.

In Texas, I use to seign for my own shrimp. You'd walk around until you felt them all around your legs, and then throw the net. You could always gather up some crabs too. Just throw a chicken neck on the beach and let them come to you. Weight the neck so the Pelicans don't rob you.

Man...now ya got me started.
  • I live in the Rockies, so there's a substantial hispanic pop'n here too. I do my best with Spanish, but I haven't learned any good pickup lines yet. 'Course, none of the ones I use in English work either... :(
But I'm lucky to live in a spectacular place like Dobb does. I don't fish for a living, but things are good here. Just no WOMEN!!! At least none for me, it seems...
  • Thin air I hear, is real tough on the Blonde's.. :?

Now it makes more sense why Wogs is so concerned with his smile. He must always be grinning from ear to ear while wearing those mirror sunglasses. 8)
  • Hey Dobb, now that I've seen a pic of you, you look really familar.Did you ever do any playing on the road,in the mid 80's to early 90's in northern B.C.
Nice fish by the way.You should load that boat up and try the B.C. salmon(Springs,CoHo,Steelheads) I think the Steels are running soon.

sounds like Adrian Smith, if you've ever watch Iron Maidens Rock in Rio DVD
  • Yeah ive seen it.Where he jokes about falling down the rocks

\"Maiden guitarist breaks neck in fishing accident\"

Also my mate who i go fishing with is my guitar buddy from my band.
    Like davey and H.

i though it was funny how Dave sold him his woolworths guitar with action like 2 inches. The Dvd is well good, Nicko is so funny, the schottish dance on the clansman.Lmao.

Death on the road is even better where it shows them setting up, u don't realise how much goes on, and 'arry records EVERY live show.No wonder that guy is so succesful, that is dedication for you.

I was lucky enough to see Nicko on his roadshow in Manchester, got a picture with him, he gave a signature and picture for every person in the venue (300 or so) and he was suprised to see my Dads Monsters of Rock festival ticket stubb from Donngton Park.Roll on December.

Anyway back to fishing, do u fish Hootman?

    lol--good one

me and the boys rode bikes down to the beach today(about 10 miles)--I have to tell you-for beautiful women this place is hard to beat---they are everywhere
  • I'd beg for photos, but I know from my own experiance, they will be stolen.

So...were you teaching the boys in how to properly stare with mirror sunglasses, and grin, without being noticed. It is an art. One I never perfected, I still get slapped.

It is an awesome responsibility to teach your boys how to properly troll without fishing gear. And how dangerous bikini waters are always infested with sharks.

    I'm such a mudpuppy... :P I gotta go. :? 8)

Hehee...those are photos I'd like to see!!!
I can't do it either, but I don't get slapped...I get ignored. That's worse, somehow...at least if I were getting slapped, I could pretend I'm getting some kind of attention from her. But you gotta watch out for those sharks!!!
PS one of my favorite small-time band names is an outfit on the east coast called \"Caught Staring\".
  • Dobb AWSOME FISH...BEEUTIFOOL BOAT, I live in New Mexico so we go fly fishing at the San Jaun. after seeing your pic I gotta go back soon!
  • Nice fish and boat Dobb. 8) ..
    Very cool indeed... 8)
Too bad about the saltwater fishing problem in the interior of Canada. :P
Main reason I moved from Dallas.. (To get to the salt water):lol:

    Just teasing buddy,
    Great fish man.. 8)

    See Ya,
    Tal.. 8)
  • Hey Rob,
A lot of responses you're getting are saying they're jelous of getting paid to fish. I'm jelous of the fact that you can have long hair  . They don't take too kindly to that where I work. I had hair down to my chest through college, but now I just look like your every day, short hair'd chemistry geek :(

    Other Rob

  • Anyway back to fishing, do u fish Hootman?

Well you probably wouldnt believe it but where i live you have to have (and pay for) a license for fishing!!!
So, not really...my hobbies are music, wood/metal work and being in last years of h/school, school work. I used to be into golf (like Nicko and dave) but i didnt have the time....

May fav. part of the rock in rio DVD is the easter egg: \"its a mango. Dont like mangos. I DONT LIKE MANGOS!!!!\"
    ohhh dear

you are damn lucky gettin that foto with nicko! and your dad's into that music as well! man i wish my parent were into that! make things so much easier...

could you use your local influences to get maiden to play down under? Sydney? That would be sweeeet.
  • Hey Guys,

Wow, thanks for the traffic and all the good stuff, I kinda feel like its my birthday or I won something 8) . I've poured my heart and soul into my little business, and I hope I can fish my summers for a long time to come... I am always interested in fishing something/somewhere new, it would be great to arrange a trip somewhere new. Those seriously interested, we should dedicate a thread this winter to the possibilities.

P.G. I've only ever played Kelowna (the old peachfest now known as wakefest) back then, but I have one of those \"he looks like my old pot dealer\" kinda faces.

    Insideout,

I work for myself, so I can wear it down, Besides if your head was the size of the winning pumpkin at the fall fair growing contest, you'd have some hair to cover it too. Last week I hit my head in the doorway...almost knocked a corner off :P

    Thanks again all,

    Dobb.

P.S. I really appreciate the boost boys!!! I'm packing for an overnighter float trip tomorrow, I'll let you all know how she goes...
  • it must be nice DOBB
    have fun

I Tell u something else cool too. When Bruce was in Samson, famous enough to be known by rock fans but nothing to big, they just went round the ountry playing as many shows as they could. On one day Bruce played at the College in my Town.I mean its only a small town and he played at the very small college with Samson. After the gig my Dads mate was talking to Bruce, saying his mate(My dad) was into all that music you like.
I can't beleive that Bruce was in My town Rawtenstall.

Also Stevev Harris' Dad was a truck driver delivering Steels around the country. One day he was in my town,Rawtenstall (where Samson played), delivering the steels to the steel factory. My Dads mates again worked at the steel factory and they were in the cantine reading KERRANG! In walked Steves Dad and pointed at steve and said thats My boy there, doin' us proud.

I don't think he was driving trucks long after that

hey manitou can i come too?? ;) im in vancouver, just a day away! i do as much flyfishin as time allows in bc, and its funny to see all the people here who fish and play guitar. i dont know if theres some wierd cosmic connection, but i notice that alot. we should all get together for one big jamfest / fish - in. im planning a trip through idaho, montana, wyoming, and colorado next june/july. does anyone have any suggestion for me on fishing / camping locations?
  • Hey,

Smeg, you and P.G. are pretty close eh? You both would be more than welcome to run the river in the clacka w/me. I run until end of September this year, and I start up on May 1 again. I'll bet Manitou's comin'.

It would be cool to meet more guit-pickin', fish trickin' guys like you all. Yep...fishin'...a good winter thread 8)

    Peace,
    Dobb.
