Need to learn basics
I have been playing for years and never learned exactly how scales and keys work. I was looking for some help or a place to find good instructions on were to play leads and with what chords and progressions. I am self taught and friends say I sound good but I want to learn how to put notes in the right place. Can anyone guide me to a good instruction web site or training DVD? Thanks

You can see many other lessons on DVD or paperback through Amazon.com, and what's nice is you can compare what is available and read the reviews...which does help you in your choice.
Yngwie just shows you at warp speed, and then at half warp (he calls slow).. then he laughs about it! Most vids like that will demonstrate their technique and a few of their licks. Not much on theory.
Theory- many ways to learn. When I taught I asked students to learn (memorize) the fretboard first and scared many away. It's very difficult to understand modes, patterns and so forth, if you don't know the fretboard first.
Wholenote.com has a variety of instruction/links
HarmonyCentral.com has a variety of instructional vid links and freeware/shareware links for PC based programs.
Will Landrum offers excellent ineractive CD rom instructional vids too. Check out the top two:

I use Wholenote as guitar mentioned, and half a dozen others. Here's a good one... http://www.guitarbasics.com/
