The guitar tone is sweet too, very reminiscent of Petrucci.
You are definitely talented. I cannot attempt stuff by players like Petrucci. I am just having fun recording over the backing tracks I have. I would kill for talent like yours and others on this forum...some well talented players here.
Keep it coming man...sounding good :P
Macman,thanx alot u r the best..\\m/
I think this song is a good exersise for the right hand and for picking the hell out of strings..it still need some training on the timing thing, thats what i hate about dream theater, maybe i did it alone with backing track but noo way of making it with a whole band..drums,keybord and bass..thats too hard
cya guyz,keep on rockin
Every time I feel like playing some Petrucci, I lay down, until the feeling subsides
iAGREE W/IO ON THIS ---GOOD JOB MAN
i'VE NEVER LISTENED TO PETRUCCI B4 CAN YOU RECOMEND A CD?
Dream Theater... hmmm
my fav's are:
Images and Words
Metropolis/Scenes from a Memory
Octavarium
Six Deg of Inner Turb
Falling into Infinity
Train of Thought
Awake
Change of Seasons
in that order...... or you can get the DVD's if you really want to get spooked!! Watch him play melodic lines with grace and then flare up to 230 bpm right hand riffs!! makes you do that \"Im not worthy\" routine..
images and words
Metropolis Scenes from new York
Live at Budokan
John Petrucci's Rock Discipline DVD is another must have.. one of the best rock guitar inst vids ever made.
Great Pickn'..
Great mix...
You nailed the whole thing dude...
See Ya,
Tal... 8)
Man, that was good. I'm a huge fan of JP (my sign off signature is from the intro of scenes) but I haven't got round to buying that live album yet. After hearing your take on this piece, I think I will go out and grab it.
My fave Dream Theater would have to be Scenes From A Memory. I find this album haunting and thought provoking. A monumental work of art. But all their material is high quality. It's very hard to pick a fave.
Anyways...
Thanks, that was great.

i think Petrucci is the best in R.hand techn. and tremolo picking.
guitar3456 i love all those albums..they rock
An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudes is one of my favorites
Live at Budokan is a work of magic not just music,i think everyone should have this concert,no matter u play guitar, keyboard, drums,or bass, really they've pushed it to the limit..if u wanna watch it.just put ur instrument away so u don't break it
Also check out the old Live in Japan for Dream Theater.
thanx again guyz,peace
Petrucci has a solo album out, too... and he was featured on a bunch of tracks for the Guitar Battle CD.
