GNX3000 Rebate - yeh right!

I love my 3k, and I think it's worth every penny I paid. However, I wanted to post my disgust that DigiTech is using a 3rd party to handle the rebate offered, and they are the same old scam like the rest of them. My rebate request was denied because \"the original UPC was not included\"... just like the last FIVE rebates I've sent in. What an incredible coincidence that I just keep forgeting to put the original UPC in the envelope - please people, if you don't want to send me the money, don't insult me by using the same lie over and over - be creative and change it up now and then :P . When I called to resolve the issue, the \"person\" on the phone at the scam company was a total purple elephant toward me, and copped a \"sucks for you\" attitude right out of the gate  And finally, to the DigiTech folks, when people buy your product expecting a rebate and don't get it, it scars your reputation - not the invisible 3rd party. Don't even offer it if you need to use a company that partakes in this type of nonsense.

  • Yeah, mail-in rebates are the biggest frickin' scam. Nothing like mailing every last piece of proof-of-ownership off to some random firm posing as the company from which you bought your item. Only some government official could have dreampt up mail-in rebates.

I agree, be honest and upfront--give us our money off at the register.
  • I recently went through similar on my rebate of 50 bones from purchase of my GNX4. I contacted Digitech directly. First time I received no response. I contacted again, maintaining a professional demeanor, and finally got a reply back. They went out of their way to make sure I received my rebate, and even sent me an email, that the rebate would be in the mail by such n' such date. It came as promised. They also did a follow up email to be certain I received the payment. I responded and received another correspondance thanking me for my business.

Don't know if this will help you too, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try as well. I simply went to Digitech \"contact us\" location on the home page, and sent an email, explaining how I've waited 3 months, and received no rebate. I did follow the rebate directions to the letter as you. BOL.
  • I'm in the same boat for $50 on my GNX4, I sent in all the required info back in March for the rebate and I have been checking the website for rebate status (http://www.web-rebates.com/digitech) periodically.
Finally around the end of April it stated my rebate was \"in process\" and had no errors or missing info. That status has not changed since...apparently they need a lot of processing time!

I think I might follow the \"Contact Us\" route since it had been almost 3 months.

On another note, I do know that a lot of companies offer mail-in rebates to collect information from users for future use or marketing. They can't collect that data if they offer the rebate up front at the point of purchase.
  • ALWAYS scan or copy the needed documentation. Always call or e-mail back saying \"yes, I DID send the needed stuff, and I have proof, and stop scamming people\". The last time I was scammed this way (Lexar digital media) the postcard said to resend a copy *by a date that had passed BEFORE I got the card*. A few firm but pissed e-mails later I was issued my rebate.

I'm going to start just including a note from now on that says \"look, I know you guys scam people by claiming certain things weren't included. I have copies of all the stuff and a video of me stuffing the envelope, so how about we skip all the bullshit and you just send my friggin' money?\"
  • My advice would be to always, always, always keep an exact copy of everything you send, including the postmarks, packaging, and content.
  • I always get hung on those things. Recently Wagner painter rebate, stuff from last Christmas (computer cards, drives, DVD rw) all said the same thing.. REJECTED becasue of the UPC.. We copy the entire form and UPC and take a digital photo of it. I've been ripped out of hundreds from these rebates in the past years since they've been doing that stuff.

Some of the rebates that said 4-6 wks took 6-8 mos to get in. Give it time if you've heard nothing about the UPC missing garb..
  • In addition to the rules of copy and document EVERYTHING, I also have a rule where, \"if I wouldn't buy it if it didn't have the rebate - don't buy it\". I have grown to expect the \"rejected because we're enjoying your money too much\" from from an import buy off Tiger Direct, but it just took me off guard coming from DigiTech I guess. Like I said though, I would have bought it even if it didn't have the rebate (don't tell DigiTech, but I probably would have paid $500 now that I know what a monster machine it is  ).

Silver lining time... the suggestion to contact DT was excellent. They promptly replied stating they would contact the scam company and take care of it. :D:D:D I knew deep down that they wouldn't stand for this sort of thing. 8)

To those who say they have gotten the same reason for rejection... in defense of the scam companies, those UPC tags can be very elusive - in fact I had one jump right out of my hands yesterday, ran into the street and got hit by a car. Very tragic
  • OK! let me get this stright ... you SENT the upc in the 1st time and they replied with a \"We need the UPC or no money\"?

I hope thats the case cuz its kind of unclear. LOL, I mean, if they request the UPC and you never sent it in after \"forgetting to send it in 5 times\" (I know this is sarcasim) ... then what do you expect!?!? Again, *I'm not clear if you sent in the UPC*, so don't go all offensive on me ...

And yes, I am yet another consumer who is PISSED OFF abou the rebate screw ups. About 2 years ago, maybe longer, I bought some RAM (a 256 SDRAM) ... it was a good brand, Kingston I think, so it cost me approx. $85 bucks. BUT, the ONLY reason I bought that was because they offered a $50 rebate! Sweet! $35 for a 256 RAM card?! You got it! ...

No ... I don't got squat ... as they requested, i sent EVERYTHING they asked for (UPC,bform filled out etc etc) ... never got it .... ever ... 2 years later I'm still waiting ... but at least now I have the 256 of Random Access Memory my computer desperatly needed ...

    Lovely!

Sorry for the confusion (I was moderately heated whilst typing the first note). Yes, I sent all the required materials (I even put them in the envelope in the order they listed). This was the 5th rebate in a row that I sent in, that was rejected for that reason. The others were for computer memory, wireless keyboard, cell phone and and some software. Each rejected the first try due to \"no UPC\".
  • Just makes me wonder who (and where) these Fuk faces are ...
  • That's because the Co's that offer the rebates are usually NOT the ones policing the returns. many of the co's know what a pain it is and the hoops one will go through to get the rebate, refund, discount. Many give up and like anything else.. forget about it.

Unlike my Wagner/Behr rebate, Digitech cust service will help you.

DigiTech Rocks!! 10 days after I contacted them, a check was in my mailbox :D
  • Good to hear there is at least one half-decent party involved in the deal! Glad to hear it worked out, man. :)
