Journey (my second recording finally!!)

Hi guys,
At this rate I can have an album within the next 20 years!
Yesterday I started playing for the first time in a very long time and this tune came out. I could have refined the song further; it took me only an hour to create and record the entire thing, but I couldn't wait to post it here since it's been so long, and I wanted you to listen, so go easy on me :)

....I also wanted to post it immediately because , who knows when lazy glider will be picking his guitar up again ?? :D:D

  • Very good recording. The guitar recored well. What patches did you use especially for that last little harmonized sounding section.

Good work. Please post more recordings! 8)
  • Thanks a lot macman, I used patch38 BlueBall for the rhythm guitar and the intro melody. For the other melody sections I used patch#27 named \"Solo\" but lowered the gain down to 9-10 . For the solo and the harmonized part at the end I used the same patch but the default version, gain is set to 89 or so. I added another guitar to create the harmony again using the same patch.

I also used the bass simulator. By the way, a tip for the bass simulator, if you lower the Bass to 0 or -1 and if use your bridge pickups it sounds really good.
  • hey glider ,
thats a cool song dude-- the song told a story---Ilike that---you should do more. I felt like pickin up my guitar --thats how it made me feel
    good job
  • Really liked the harmonized leads, very sweet. 8) 8)
  • :D very cool. Could be the sound track for a Action TV series. 8) I like. nice dueling leads.
  • Thank you-for your kind comments, really, they mean a lot :)

I am planning to do this song again and pay more attention to mixing and patch selection  and correct the mistake in solo where the sound is chopped off for some reason around 2:22. :?

if you had thoughts such as ....well you know, things like \"if only this patch didn't sound that horrible\" or anything at all, just let me know and I'll try to make the next take a better one.
  • Not bad at all for a lazy guy  I really like the progression in this tune. It grabs your interest and holds it - that aint easy to do. Excellent work - don't make us wait 20 years for the rest of the album :D
  • Thanks insideout for the kind words. I agree 20 years is too long I'll do my best to have an album within the next 15 years :lol:

It may sound cheesy but buying a GNX4 was probably one of the best things I have ever done. Nothing better than discussing music with your fellow musicians.

    Thanks again
  • Good Job Glider..
Like the middle eastern feel that you get in places...
    Cool DaddyO 8)

Do we have to wait that long for another one??
I really like the mixing job you did on this. Great sound for the guitars and nice harmonies!
    very cool D

Hope we don;t have to wait too long to hear some more!

  • Hey bababoey thanks a lot I appreciate it.
I think I might be onto something here  I figured that if it weren't for the drum arrangements I could have actually posted more. I get bored easily while laying drums and I am tired of playing to the same loops. A friend on this forum recommended ACID so I am crossing my fingers that it is what I look for and hopefully I'll be able to post more from now on

Again, thanks a lot (bows down) :)

I also hate the same drum loops. What is ACID?
Let me know if you like it. I am looking for something for drums as well.

    Babaoey,
Here is the link to the thread. It is still on the first page of this forum, thread was started by jt93. He was very kind to post the screenshots etc of ACID in the thread as well. I 'll try it this week, you can ask jt93 as well, he seemed very happy with it.
