The World gets a little darker....Part 3

What more can i say.....Christians themselves are their own anti-christ and Corporations are the leaders of the self-destruction of the world we live in.

  • Where is part one and two?
  • on the old board ;)

a short introduction wouldn't harm anyone though...

Don't know part 1 and 2 from old forum?? Bottom Line: The World will continue to get darker & darker until Christ comes and sets up his kingdom on this Earth. I hope you and all will be ready for that glorious reign!!!
  • Is the world really a darker place? Isn't it simply a matter of the media scaring the S#!t out of you? How about the fact that we use to have nuclear missiles pointed at all NATO cities. Personally, I think we were worse off when a lunatic wanted to \"cleanse\" the earth in 1938.
  • good point ednrg!!

historically the human race has always pretty much been on the verge of total destruction or mass plague or social dinsintegration..

as for that whole kingdom on earth thing - when i read revelations it is kind of weird because he's going to come down and create a walled city on earth were the chosen few (we're talking SUPER good people here -not your common or garden repentive sinners!) live in side in bliss, but the human race appears to carry on pretty much as it alwasy has outside the city walls.

    kinda confusing..

i tend to go for the whole tao/yin yang thing - light and dark define each other - they cant exist without the other.

    guitars...hmmm

Actually the world will continue to get darker until Christians start standing up for something other than guns, pro-life, anti-g@y feelings, and the Republican party. Jesus showed compassion, mercy, and forgiveness. All I see from Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson is judgemental comments and political hacking. How is that spreading the message of Christ?

Sorry...I am a Christian too, but don't understand the message permiating from a lot of Churches and leadership. It's all about God blessing you financially, hating g@y people, jumping into bed w/ the Republican party, and judging everyone else.

BTW. What does this have to do w/ the GNX4? Put your message in a song, that's where it should be.

Man, I couldn't have said it any better!

    Please get real.
  • This is so weird discussing this on a GNX4 user's forum, but now I am interested in what you mean by your comment:

'What more can i say.....Christians themselves are their own anti-christ and Corporations are the leaders of the self-destruction of the world we live in.'

I agree that Corporate greed is responsible for the demise of many, but not sure how 'Christians' tie into that.

    Please explain.

Jesus spoke out against greed 'the love of money is the root of all evil'
  • it's like Monty Python's Life of Brian = he wasnt attacking Jesus or Christianity, just some of the followers who are stupid or corrupt and twist the message to justify their actions and get otthers to go along.

He can't explain. His mind has been distorted by some religious rhetoric. He's obviously a person with an agenda.
  • oh i dont know about htat ed - i can see his point, like the far right christian extremists (just like any kind of extremist) are always pointing at others when a lot of what they're involved in is a big part of the problem, i think he just probably saw something on TV and got angry at some hipochrasy or something.

but then again - maybed Jay could just clarify what he meant and i should just shut up.
  • Take out the word Christian, and you have a valid statement.
  • I agree with ed and without getting too religious I would say
christians do what JESUS did in the way they live and there are many waco's out there that say thay are christians but the truth is they are far from him.
Look at history --many were killed for christ's sake but would JESUS have done that HELL NO!!!
  • In terms of world affairs, i think everyone should ditch nuclear weapons. I read somewhere that USA is planning to build somthing like 100 nukes a year by the year 2010. Thats insane.
I also think that humans are way too self centred, we really need to take care of our planet, sooner than later. To achieve this sacrifices will have to be made to our way of life, or you can forget life altogether, unless you enjoy living on a poisoned earth. Whatever religion you are, it really doesnt matter.
  • The US can't afford another war with Iran. There are no christians in my daily life, only douchebags who own the rules. Entrenched capitalism has a stranglehold on what used to be freedom in the US. The third world countries want more global polical power based solely on thier monies gained from developed nations oil dependencies. My voice has no impact. I can take no action that will make the world a better place. I don't remember the world being a better place in the 30 years lived, but in history both parents didn't have to work long hours to push their kids through the system with the only ways to afford homes, cars , and college is by borrowing. The world prolly does look better in some countries now than it did 30 years ago, so maybe there is balance. Hooray for them. hooray for the mexicans who can make 10 times pay by working in the US. Hooray for the chinaman who works 10 times harder for a 10x less pay. Hooray for the crowded peoples of India who are primed and ready for US corporation outsourcing. Hooray for those who are already rich and will always be rich. I know money isn't everything, but for 10 hours a day life feels like a game of monopoly that started years ago and there are 4 hotels on every piece of property and your just starting out with 200 bucks which every fat greedy property owner is eyeballing with great interest.
  • yeh -= you have a point there - sure have to work really hard to not really get anywhere nowadays. There was a time when jobs were 9 to 5 - you could keep the same on for your whole life if you wanted it and everyone could afford their own home - now its 9-12 hour days, rota'd shift patterns and 6-7 day weeks with no sick pay and people in their thirties still have to live in shared rented accomodation ro their parents becuase no one can afford to buy property anymore.

We need balance between progress and exploitation - it would be nice if we could have the benefits of modern society with some of the values of traditional ones, sometimes i think it would be great if we all went back to nature - but i kinda need electricity for my GNX! - hmm solar powered amp with wind turbine pa system.....

im not a communist (im about as centre politically as you can get! balance is the way i think) but i studied social science and if Marx is right capitalism is only gonna end up with one outcome - and it will be a very violent one! sooner or later the poor will vastly outnumber the rich (like 99 to 1) and they will revolt. Only thing is communism didnt work out too well either....hmmm star trek society that'd be good - any idea how to make that happen? i seem to remember it involved the invention of a warp drive.
  • Wooooo..... you guys lost me when you say you have to work longer hours to get nowhere? Come on now, maybe its because you over spend on big screen tv's, nice gas guzzling trucks, multiple guitars and amps?
My parents had none of these luxuries. They worked hard and as for long hours, I really didn't see my dad much as a child. We were fed, had one tv, enough clothes to get us through the week and in general, I felt I had a great life as a kid with very little. Today, my parents are very well off and me, I'm doing pretty good myself. If I followed my parents advice of saving and spending wisely, I'd probably be mortgage free by now and could start having fun with my money buying all the luxuries and guitar equipment I want. I somewhat followed their advice as I only buy luxuries when I have the CASH! Life is much easier when you want less!

That being said, it is getting tougher everyday. I work less hours because of all the work that has been sourced in Asia. Less hours means less money, and less money means I've gotta be more responsible with what I spend it on. Corporations are definitely screwing up the world. Its a mess and doesn't seem to be getting better anytime soon. You could do your part by not buying things. Stop using credit. Buy North American when ever possible. Don't shop at Wallmart! Start saving your money.

I'm not sure what the economics are like in Europe at the moment. Don't mean to be rude by leaving you guys out of my rant.
  • Life does not consist in the abundance of things... I found I can be content with little or with much!!! Well fed or hungry!!! Secret: I can do all things thru Christ who gives me strength!!!!
  • First you have to believe in yourself.
  • Tal's favorite quotes on the subject... :)

    \"Life's a bitch and then you die\"..

\"Live fast, die young, leave a good corpse\"...

\"Every day above ground is a good day\"....

\"Life is better than the alternative\"

\"So what's the deal? You want to live forever?\"...

    Yep...
    Contadictory statements....
Sort of like REAL LIFE.......:lol::lol:
  • All of the above about \"christians\" could be true if the wording had instead been \"SOME christians\".

There's really no way to throw all of the hundreds of sects of christianity (and their widely varying beliefs) into the same pot.

Some buy modern cosmology and evolution; some are young earth creationists who think Genesis 1 & 2 are literally true (well, since they differ, these christians believe ONE of them are true)

Some are \"fire & brimstoners\" who hate gays, abortion, and various people \"not like them\", and some are quite liberal and accepting.

But most christians I've met have one thing in common: they don't know their bible very well. They listen to their minister for an hour or two a week, unquestioningly accept HIS interpretation of the work despite hundreds of other interpretations, and basically never vary from their brainwashing, er, indoctrination, er... EDUCATION.

Most don't know that \"end of days ae here\" prophecies have been with us since the days of the new testament - and in fact, are IN the new testament. They don't know how our current NT canon came about - by committee in the Roman councils of the 4th century. And they never look into other interpretations of the text, or of OTHER holy books.

Most holy books actually *say* they are true and that faith should be preferred over worldly knowledge. But if every such book does this, if every book denounces reason, how does one choose? Let's be honest - most choose that which they were told was true when they were too young to think for themselves.
