I agree, thats what I have seen. But I don't think this axe is produced anymore. I was curious and searched around, and found nothing current. Everything found gave it high praise for a low end guitar.
    Does it look like this?

    ibanez_550_b.jpg

Basswood body, Wizard II style neck w/ jumbo frets.
    Low profile bridge.
    Vintage 7 (neck)
    Vintage 8 (bridge)
    single coil S1 (high output)

The retail was $700 .....and were sold for $300 through outlets like Musicians Friend.
I wouldn't think you could go wrong with this guitar, from the praise I've picked up, it's a good value.

Looks like a good .....shredd guitar... :? :)
  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div><div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>The ax I'm lookin' at is vaguely similar to the pictured on; but not exactly. It's got different pickups in it. Also, it's solid color, no pickguard. But it looks nice, it's a new old one that was found in back stock hadn't been sold. But is it worth, 4, 5 hundred bux? Dunno.
  • The example above is an RG 470. They will say RG series on the head stock front, and RG470 on the back. They will come in other colors, and not necessarily have a pick guard. They do have pickup options, but most are Ibanez as is the bridge...not a Floyd. This is a low end guitar, but made very well, and has high evaluation feedback. Sold new for $300- $400. (Retail was set at $650- $700.) Hope this helps.

  • Shred,
I played an RG470 for like 3 years. It was my beginning guitar that I began to get serious about guitar with. I realy liked it!!! The neck was thin and fast!! Played very well and sounded pretty good!!! I still have the guitar and am saving it if any of the kids decide they want to play they can prove themselves on this trusty guitar. dislikes tone was not versital enough for what I'm doing. The only pickup I realy liked was the bridge V8 I think it was maybee was the V7 not sure now(I'm at work) Anyhow the bridge was what I used 90 percent of the time just did not care for the other 2 pups!! Which could easily be upgraded just did not want to that rout. I did not like the LO pro tremlo, this did not stay in tune well for me!!! So I did not use the tremlo but still locked the locking nut down and used the fine tuners for tunning. this guitar stayed in tune very well even with say your violent bends and solos you talked of with you other ax it will handle it!!! Anyhow Id say this guitar shine's best with distortion and power chords if thats you or you would want to upgrade some this guitar could be realy awsome!!! As was said already the quality is realy there it is well built and plays great!!! just could use higher end pups and tremlo. Anyhow just my thoughts on this guitar as I own one and played for 3 years. hope this helps!!! God Bless!!!
