gnx foot controller

Can you configure the GNXFC to control compressor or reverb on/off?

Comments

  • Not in conjunction with a GNX3. It only does recorder control.

Don't know about any other model.

    -Rf.
  • It's strictly for recorder operation, and hands-free control surface on the USB-enabled units.
  • How about with the GNX4? Still only recording controls?

you can control compressor with control footswitch
  • GNXFC only works with GNX3, GNX4, and GNX3000. It only controls the recording functions.

If you want additional outboard footswitches or expression controllers, you're looking at getting a programmable MIDI footswitch or pedalboard. GNX is pretty flexible, as far as MIDI goes, since you can map program changes however you like. For instance, the Behringer FCB1010 has two single-value CC footswitches, which in combination with programmable controllers on GNX3 and 4 is a very powerful addition. Such a controller enables you to have additional expression pedals (perhaps a dedicated outboard GNX volume controller, or use the GNX expression pedal for volume exclusively and take advantage of the volume pedal update feature) as well as keep the GNX in stompbox mode for added control. It does take a quick second to get it to work, but once you do, it becomes an invaluble part of your setup.
  • Anybody happen to know what controller signal/MIDI signal the control sends? I'm trying to program Cubase to respond the Stop, Start, and Record pedals but need to know the values sent by the GNX4...
  • Your best bet would be to set it up as a control surface. There's a DLL that comes with PTP; there should be a way in Cubase to set up a control surface, using the USB MIDI I/O. It would, theoretically, work just Hands Free.
  • There is a way to configure Cubase to work handsfree but you need to know the messages that are sent by the GNX.

    I repeat:

  • What I'm trying to get at, is that it's probably a SysEx message. The MIDI implementation says nothing about note messages, so I'm guessing it's not that. In any case, you can easily find out by monitoring the midi data flow as you press the various footswitches.
  • The problem is that there are several messages (MIDI notes apparently though there may also be some sysex messages as well) being sent in rapid succession and with such short duration that I am unable to record them or determine what they are. The final \"Off\" message is always the same (G8) regardless of which pedal you step on and this note is the only one that appears for any length of time and is the only that gets recorded when you step on the pedals.
