Did anyone see Bon Jovi at the Daytona 500?

The reason why I ask is that Richie Sambora looked like he was playing through 2 Marshalls but he had the name on the head and cabs blacked out by putting tape over them. I wonder why he would do that? Anyone who would care could tell they were Marshalls. I wonder if it is an endorsement thing. The last time I saw him play he had 2 diezel heads and cabs and 2 heads that I didn't recognize the logo.

Anyone have any thoughts on this.

  • Yeah it's probably an endorsement issue. John Mayer and even Eric Johnson were forced to take the nameplates off their cabs and heads. Some say they do it when it's not a stock model, or if it's modified. Many have used or owned vintage gear, but have to endorse a reissue. Most of the time the artist won't comment or be very generic.
  • Maybe Heather scratched them all up when she found the email :D  :D
  • That kind of makes sense G3456. I did noticed that not only did he have the brand taped off, but it looked like he had the model number taped off on the heads as well.

  • Pretty anal huh?

Maybe it's conspiracy. A Fender/gov't conspiracy maybe? We all know the gov't has been tracking Marshall products for years. Pretty sure they import... um... British Sudafed for use in American meth labs. Hoping to wipe out all the guitarist using Fenders by getting their remotely related trailer park cousins addicted to meth. Sad, but true. :(

Somebody still has Sambora endorse a product!?! I am soooo under-rated. :?

Why does Bon Jovi just seem to lack the cool the Stones or U2 have? 8)

Now that I think about it... I like Bon Jovi just about 1° more than Poison. At least Bon Jovi doesn't have CC Deville... make that 2° more than Poison. Pretty low on my killer jams thermometer, but to each his own. Just cause I don't care for them, doesn't mean they didn't sell millions. Especially to chicks. Wow... what a phenomenon.

My name is John by the way. I'm going to go by John Bon Jadey now. :P
  • yeah, in a recent interview Ron Wood had complained that the solo he played ( at the Super Bowl) was muted...the sound engineer said it was so bad, he muted it. It was not a technical difficulty!!! Richards just laughed during the interview. Then he said, it wouldn't matter what Ron Played...and laughed again! hats off for them still sticking it out a bit !
  • Well, I saw the Stones at the superbowl. Say what you will about Bon Jovi, but they sounded a whole lot better than the Stones. Actually, Richie Sambora is a very well rounded guitar player and a decent singer as well. And their albums are still doing pretty good. They are one of those few bands that survived the \"hair band \"era. They've written some pretty good songs in their day.

I'm not really a big of Stones fan anyway. And I'm old!
