In my Ibanez RG I'm using the Evolution Neck/bridge.......soon I will Rout for a middle pickup n use a Virtual Vintage . In my strat copy I'm using a Tone Zone Single which is a humbucker the size of a single coil.......
go for semyore duncan man it wont disappoint you by the way i have a schecter c1-classic with a SD sh-4 JB in the bridge and SH2N jazz model in the neck and i dont need anything more WONDERFULL compination which it is also available in backged called Hot Rodded (130$) and for the middle position you can ignore it or replaced with Seymour Duncan SHR-1 Hot Rail Stacked Single Coil Pickup also you can replace the JB with SH5 custom by the way dimarzio is a good pickup BUT!! it dosent mean the vai or satriani playing with it that its good for you caz every one has his own sound teasting who is with me!!!!
Quality, that's what I have in my LP too, a Jb in bridge and Jazz in the neck. It sounds f*****g awesome. I was so impressed with the it that i put my trust in Seymour Duncan again and am going to put a SSL in the neck, Texas Hot in middle and JB trembucker in bridge of my other guitar.
looks like we have SD fans here by theway did you shando try or here the slash pickup ( Alinco II pro humaber)? caz am thinking putting it in my ibanez sz520qm what do you think guys , one more thing the SZ has a fixed bridge and dimarzio pickups only have the version of fixed bridge pickups but i dont wana go out from seymour duncan caz I a Big Fan so can the SD pickups work with the fixed bridges?
I have heard the APS II but not tried it. I went for the JB as it was recommended on the Tone Wizard and on the SD Forum for the sound I was looking for. Though to be honest there isn't really that much difference in sound between both. I think the JB gives very, very slightly more bass tone than the APS.
If u play metal u would want to use SD's. They have some nice active combinations available.
Personally, I like Dimarzios. I use a Paf Joe (neck) and a Fred (Bridge) and I have an Ibanez HSH configuration with a Gotto Push-pull pot to split the humbuckers into single coil.
U will fall in love with the Fred. Try for urself and make use of the 30 day return back programs some websites offer.
im thinking of changing the pickups in my stage master - id like a guitar with a wide variety of applications - blues/pop/deathmetal (tall order huh?)
i was looking at a SD jazz and invader combination - but im wondering if its worth putting expensive pickups in an Alder - neck through body locking floyd rose squier type axe?? = does the wood need to be like mahogany or something to make it worthwhile?
Archon, Alder is a great tone wood; my old guitatr was Alder and I used a Dimarzio ToneZone/HS3/Humbucker From Hell in it.........best sound I ever had.
The invader was kind of a one trick pony when I played it. I use the SH5 Custom/59 combo in my Les Paul. It works great for giving me a great variety, plus I don't lose the PAF tones. Dimarzio has a more modern sound to my ears, great pickups, but I don't think they capture the PAF tones like SD does. The JB is a great pickup but will be shrill in any bright guitar, cause the pickup is already very trebly. The APN2 that Slash uses has AlnicoII mags and gives a great classic PAF tone with a nice spongy bottom, they just didn't have enough output to my liking. As far a single coils, I use nothing but Fender, they wrote the book here, period. But all I play with single coils is Strats, and I have Texas Specials......great pups to my ears. Just remember that a lot of things make a PUP sound different, type of guitar, pot values, capacitors, wiring, you need to look at all those factors and then choose a pup depending on what you want and what you already have.
i've been leaning toward a SD i had a duncan distortion a while back and loved it... i'm working w/an Ibanez EX370FM -- nice body but no idea wood type or anything...just looking for a well rounded setup
I have an 87 Kramer Pacer Custom II with a JB in the bridge and two vintage single coils in it. The JB sounds awesome and you can still get a great strat sound out of the vintage single coils. It was designed to be a metal guitar but is still very versitile.
I had an Epiphone Les Paul for a while and I put a SD JB in the bridge and a 59er in the neck. They both sounded great. I traded the Paul for a Gibson Xplorer and it has a Gibson 500T in the bridge and a 498T in the neck. I like the Gibson pickups but I am still thinking about dropping in the Duncans that I took out of the Epi.
funny ive also got an old ibanez (roadstar 2) that needs some lovin and Im thinking of going with a JB in the bridge and 2 cool rails in the mid and neck (H-S-S). its a basswood body with a rosewood neck. ive also got a new ibanez with 2 dimarzio IBZs, so Im lookin for something different in the roadstar. wadda you guys think?
also, its a floyd which im tired of and i want to convert to a fixed bridge - is that even possible?

I was a moron and got rid of it for beer money
I just prefer the open vowel tone
