Guitar Principles ~ PAH!

Has anyone come across the Guitar Principles website, supposedly teaching correct practice and so forth? I tried to buy the book from the UK and the price shot from $27 to $42 for postage. I queried this with them and asked how they could justify it since I have bought guitars from the US costing less postage, here is their reply...
You know Mike, I couldn't care less if you bought my book.

In fact, I would prefer you didn't. We are rather particular about our customers!

Best,

Well guess what, I WON'T be buying their products, nor will I be endorsing it to any of my UK students.

  • Now that's a way to run a business if I ever heard of one!!!
  • He isn't by any chance Axl Rose in desguise?????
  • I got that book as a gift from some random guy on the internet. It's an older version (1999), before the ying-yang thing was on it. The book is pretty in-depth, and goes over a lot of what you might learn if you took classical guitar lessons. I'd imagine most rock players won't find all of the information applicable, and won't bother reading the rest. Perhaps that's what he was referring to?
  • Imagine this with an expeltive or two...

Screw them. I won't buy one either. I might steal it or infringe on it's copyright. Just to spite them. Give it to every single guitarist I know. Jerk-wads!

Jamie... you suck. I hope you get treated the same way the next time you hit the late night tacobell. You know alone... again. I don't know if Jamie is a male or female... so I assume one can't really tell.

    Hope that... you know... helps.
  • How could this arse understand principles of any kind?
  • If you consider \"how to properly hold a guitar\" a principle.
I might steal it or infringe on it's copyright. Just to spite them.

The one I got as a gift was most definitely an electronic copy.
  • Jesus Chorazon,,

This guy must be the biggest numb nuts in the world...
Let me get this straight. :? .
You produce a product and could care less if anybody buys it or not.. :?

Kind of sounds like some of those movies the studios release some times..
    You know,
The ones that they don't even release trailers for or have a pre screening because they're so bad that they know that if the critics review them in advance nobody will go to see them after their review.. .

For learning straight theory and technique, I have found that it's hard to beat the complete Johnny Smith method published by Mel Bay.. 8)

I've had my old dog eared copy for years and after many readings and excercise playing I still find a lot in that book. Johnny Smith.. 8) ..
Damn what a player and musician... 8) .
If you want to hear him click on the link at the bottom of this post... 8)

Wonder how this Guitar Principal guy would look with his tail between his legs if he ever had to follow Johnny Smith on Stage after a set..:lol::lol:

I would imagine a lot like the Who felt after they had to follow Hendrix after his legendary performance at Monterey...:lol::lol:

    See Ya,
    Tal
  • Yea, anyone who says that should have their head re-examined. Honestly, I bet his kid somehow got on his E-mail, I mean a real musician would never say something like that. Anyways, if you want some really good ones I have a few for ya.

Fretboard Logics SE -by Bill Edwards (the best theory book imo, period.)

    Guitar Fretboard workshop (Hal Leonard)

You can find these at Amazon.com for cheap. These books really helped me out alot and i'm actually still reading them since I don't understand all of it.
Try it out, I bet you will like them, especially the Fretboard Logics.
    :)
  • Jamie's obviously a jerk of some kind...

For lead guitar material, check out any book by Troy Stetina. Excellent stuff!!!

    Cheers,

    Thomas
